Elvenking
Omg...he loves green chilis and snow peas a lot!!! I finally nailed it! Veggies he likes. He is still strong on his formula...but I have a feeling as I find more foods he likes...he might wean. Got him out in his harness over the weekend and he just loves every person he meets. My daughter came over and he even wants to fly to her. He seems to love people to no end. Always wants to be close and even sleeps on my shoulder on occasions. He has stopped flying to my Conures cage top! Sweet...the little bird does not have to worry anymore. I get lots of attentiuon from him...cannot go into the kitchen without some big time observation by Issac...and if I so much as open the refrigerator or microwave...my shoulder is taken. I have never imagined such a wonderful bird..never in my wildest dreams would I have guessed for a bird like Issac. Even if it only lasts for his younger days...I am loving it. I suppose I will keep on doing what I am doing...because this bird is the happiest bird I have ever known. I love my Issac!

JungleDreamz
First of all, I love that picture! And second, I am so happy you found some veggies he likes, Something you can try, That I did with Calypso, Is When she was still on formula, and I wanted her to get the tastes of lots of differant veggies, but she still wasnt that into like, Just eating a veggie or fruit, I got her Organic baby food...She LOVED it, Is all moist and soft and mushed like formula, but what flavor! Boy would her eyes get big when she thought it was just the regular formula, and she would realize, "WOW thats not the same stuff I have been getting!" Now that she eats big girl veggies, she doesnt want much to do with the soft mushy baby food anymore, But give it a try! Let me know if you decide to!!! Oh and when she would eat say carrot baby food, I would tell her it was carrots, and then show her and let her play around with a regular carrot, same with all the differant veggies, Like peas, green beans, ect... Oh and oatmeal, You can do some regular plain oatmeal and sneak some fruits into it, Calypso use to really like oatmeal with fresh blueberries in it. Some like bits of apple...And you feed it to them with a spoon. Good luck! Lemme know if you try it out
Elvenking
Yeah...the picture was from before he could even fly...about 10 weeks. He would do this on a regular basis so I caught that priceless photo with my phone very quietly one night. It makes me beam every time I see it. It's the wallpaper on my phone. Yeah...snow peas were a total hit. I will have to maybe try some baby food. Do you recommend any certain brand? So far Issac likes corn, broccoli, snow peas, and chili peppers. Fairly good array so far. He loves pasta noodles too...the fatter the noodle the better. Not much into the thinner type pastas. Seems to like rice. What I was wondering is this...plain old rice can be quite bland...as well as just plain noodles...how do you make it more tasty for your feathered friends?

Post edited by: Elvenking, at: 2010/03/01 18:
bigbird519
according to the vet the reason that our babies can eat a whole chili with out feeling the burn is because they dont produce saliva. i am not sure if or how much they can actually taste. i dont use rice, i use a qunai mix and Mojo loves it. it is actually healthier for him too. as for taste, i mix my birdie mush with cinamon, kyan pepper and he loves it. it is actually funny, cause he gets mad at the mess on his beak lol. Elvenking
He has also mastered the art of being cute as a defense mechanism. If I try to take him off my shoulder, he puts his head right in front of his feet for 'scratches'. And ohh yes...it gets me every time. At least for as long as it takes to scratch his little neck.

Post edited by: Elvenking, at: 2010/03/02 00:

Elvenking
So...I tried the trick of getting him focused on his favorite treat while putting him in the cage for the day. So...I got a little chunk of corn on the cob and showed him. He lit up when he saw it in his dish...so I guide him and his dish into the cage...he quickly grabs the corn out of his dish and begins working his way up my arm. Smart Alec!! There apparantly is nothing he likes more than being out and about. Anyway, usually on the thrid time of trying and talking him down...he reluctantly sets down on his perch...and I praise him well at that point and close the door. So...it's a ritual...but it's manageable. That little rascal! Below is a picture of him en route to me while i tried to catch a picture...lol.

Post edited by: Elvenking, at: 2010/03/02 18:
