Playing Hookie With Issac

So today I decided to take the day off to spend it with my lil bird. It was sunny out so a perfect day to try the harness. He was a bit more reluctant this time...more trying to play with the straps as I was trying to get it on...but once I got the main part past his head....it was pretty easy. We walked around the complex for around 20 minutes and I could feel his little claws holding on a bit tighter than usual. Yet he was filled with lots of wonder about his surroundings and all the sounds. No attempts at flight, I think he was taking in enough as it was. He met a couple people and was as trusting to them as he was to me. Allowing them to pet he little head and such.

As I type...he is trotting around my desk top babbling and looking at things curiously. Sweet music to my ears. Another happy day for us both.

Ooh that's a slippery slope! lol! First a day, then it'll be a long weekend before you know it you'll be signed off permenantly because your bird needs you at home!!

Haha!!

Glad you had a good day though. It's good to hear Issac is not objecting to the harness too much - it's lovely to take them out and about with you!

Yeah...it was a great day...i wish that all I had to do was spend time with my bird....I love him so much. He actually settled down a couple times today to rest...first time I had seen it cause usually I work 8 hours and he gets attention from 4:30 - 10PM. I am a certified nut for this bird. I always will be. I actually get up early so I can at least have 2 hours before work with him. I love you Issac!! You are my best friend!

I love to see this enthusiasm in new bird owners and its no harm to take a day to spend with your new best friend but it could become a habit that will be hard to break. It will be interesting to see if you are this enthusiastic next year at this time but there is no doubting that you love Issac.

Yes...it is all a suprise to me. I am sure he will settle down and not be so needy at some point, but I will always love him. I already have so many memories to fall back on....it warms the heart. :)

PS: He is sleeping on my shoulder right now. Head all tucked in his back. So I tried to set him on his perch for a more stable bed. Nope...flew right back to my shoulder.

Post edited by: Elvenking, at: 2010/02/27 23:31
