Jayd
Spock has no infections, More "smears and blood were taken",more test planned in next couple of weeks... They took him off the formula, it was passing right through him [not diarrhea] Main guess is it's internal and his body has stopped excepting nutrients...Jay and Maggie

Post edited by: Jayd, at: 2010/02/17 20:
JillyBeanz
It's good news about the infection - but what about the nutrients? Is there something they can do to boost Spock's nutritional state? Are there any vitamin and mineral mixes that can be given to help him out? Fingers crossed they find something to help him.

Jayd
Thank you, Spock is given a small dosage of select vitamins and minerals. At a later time I'll post his diet and how it works. Basically, one food he gets reinforces another to bring out the best of both...Jay

kittykittykitty
Re: the Baytril. Did your vet suggest/ recommend/prescribe a probiotic at the same time? My understanding is if there are not sufficient friendly flora in the bird's gut nutrients are not absorbed effficently. You've probably gone there, done that already. harmonicaman68
Jayd ... did the vet take Spock off of the Batril when the blood smear showed no signs of infection? I assume that antibiotic drops would have been stopped.
