bigbird519
are there any major down sides to adopting a grey that is five years of age? is there a forum that already covers the pros and cons of adopting a baby vs. an older grey? judygram
Hello Christian and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you are wanting to add a grey to your family. A grey that has had a former home or homes sometimes comes with baggage, meaning it might have habits and behaviors that may be unwelcome in your home but that doesn't mean that they would be unacceptable. An older bird is usually more independent than a baby grey but we do have some threads here that give you lots of advice and information to help you make the decision whether a baby would be a better fit for you than an older bird. pattertwig
Welcome I am new here as well (and Grey-less). This forum has been a great resource for me. I am also considering the matter of adopting an older grey or getting a baby. Good luck!
likajetta
Reading all you can is a great start... my first..and only...grey was about 2 or 3 when I got her... she was a rehome... I feel that as long as the parrot has not been severely abused or has become seriously narotic..you should be fine really... just give he/she time to get to know you and the new routine... :cheer:
