Congratulations! You will be so excited anticipating the day you get to bring your baby home. The first time I went to see my baby Biscotti he was about 2 weeks old. It is so wonderful to watch them grow knowing that one of them will be yours!

Keep us posted!

the only one that has come to mind is Griffon. But I think we will come up with others in the next weeks. I hope to know if its a boy or a girl in about a month. The mom at the egg shell so Tina can't do the dna test for a bit longer just to be safe.

Congratulations on finding your new baby! And a beautiful little baby he/she is! As far as name goes, it does come to you, I wasn't able to decide between Paco and Anderson until I met Paco and realized he needed a real fun name, 'cause he is such a fun bird (he is currently on his playtop shredding an entire role of toilet paper off which I hung from the playstand, thanks for the idea Dan!!!).

You must be going out of your mind with excitement!

This is such an exciting time in your life as you watch your little fellow grow and get ready to leave his nest and come home with you. I love the name Hawkins and am just thrilled for you to have the opportunity to get to know his personality and spend time with him as you prepare to bring him home. Congratulations.

Hawkins is a response to all those named Einstein. It is after Stephen Hawkings, the physicist. LOL. Hawkins is just easier to say. I bet I end up calling him things like "my lil hawk" and such as we tend to have all sorts of name variants for our other pets.

Well, the breeder wrote me an email yesterday. Apparently my Hawkins matches his namesake in a bit of a birth problem as well. His back toe on one foot seems to have extra skin around it. The vet said it was purely cosmetic. The breeder offered to give us our money back, to give us another bird later when she has some more, or to take a discount on Hawkins. I am already too bonded to not take him so I will have a bird with a small blemish. I figure at worst he will have trouble holding onto things though the breeder says he holds on better then the siblings do. I also figured that with the assortment of knowledge we have here, that if something turned our wrong with him, I could handle it with all your help. While I am new to birds, I am not new to animals nor to loving.

Here are some of the latest pics. You can see that back toe in some of the first ones. Isn't he a cute lil showoff with his new wing feathers? hawkins4.JPG

Post edited by: crossfit, at: 2010/03/10 05:38

Sounds to me like you made a good choice :) It doesn't sound like a huge problem and if you are already bonded then you probably wouldn't want to have to start all over and wait for another :P

I'm sure this forum can help you if you have any troubles... I love the picture with your baby's wings spread, he looks proud to have them :P
