Air Conditioning

Possibly moving to a brand new house later this year, and there's the option to have air conditioning installed.

 

How safe is this for my birds with regards to chemicals used and emitted?

There shouldn't be any chemicals involved in air conditioning equipment, the liquid that cools the air is contained in the unit outside so only the cool air is circulated inside. I have central air in my house and it causes no problems for my birds.

As long as the cool air doesn't blow directly on your birds, I don't see a problem. I have air conditioning in my home and all is okay with my fids.

Air conditioning always makes me thirsty so I would say always make sure there there is water available but then that should be the case anyway.

As it turns out actually it would be a mobile air conditioning unit, not the type where part of it is installed outside. I think I'll give that part of it a miss, I just don't want to take any chances at all.
