Do they need a "bed"?

So this might sound like a dumb question but I got to thinking and it has been recommended to me to provide my Quaker Parrots with items so they can make a bed/nest or if you choose to buy one for them people have said that they have bought a "tent" and the birds love them....so....

My question is: Do CAG's need a bed, or nest, or tent area to sleep in? Is this normal? I just assumed they perched and were fine...do they sit on the bottom of the cage or do they prefer the upper level?

Any suggestions or insight is greatly appreciated! : )

My Ana Grey, is 17-months old. When I first got her at 4 months old, she loved to sleep in her tent that first winter. When it because warmer, she stopped using it. Now that she is older, she seldom goes in it. So I guess it would depend of the grey, they are all different. Some like tents some don't. It would be your grey's personal choice.

It does very much depend on the bird as Janet has said. Alfie will be two years old in february and she still loves her bed. The first one we bought for her - it was called a Birdie Bunk. The one she uses now is homemade and is big enough so she can stand up and turn round without really touching the sides. It has a base of 12" x 12" with an apex top about 11" at the highest sloping down to 7" at the top of the walls.

Alfie absolutely loves her bed which is hung in her cage. Sometimes during the day she will sit on top of it, and there is a perch higer up still, but she prefers to sleep in her bed.

Here is a link to a thread on here where people have posted pics of their cages, and in my case, Alfies birdy bunk too!

Hope this helps.
