caseyandmikey
I have spent a while trying to get Mikey's cage together just right. I am having some trouble deciding on how many toys should be in there at a time. As of now he has the 2 perches the cage came with plus a bee pollen perch and 2 pedicure perches. From everything I have read I know there should be enough toys to keep them busy but does this look overwhelming? I do have more toys I am saving for rotation. As of now there are 2 foraging toys, 4 destructables and 4 others with bells and blocks. There is also a tent, rope swing and a ladder. Or should I add more? the bottom seems pretty empty but I assumed he would spend most of his time up high. Any opinions on how to improve his living area would be appreciated. Thank you. judygram
That is plenty of toys in the cage, you don't want to overcrowd the cage, they do need some room to open their wings. The only thing I might add is one of those ropes that have an attachment on both ends that you can put in the lower part, the rope is sort of stiff like and you can shape it to your liking. katana600
Mikey's place looks like a fun place for him to hang out. It may take him a little while to get cozy and he will go through phases as to what he likes. You are off to a good start and it is going to be amazing when he comes home to you. You have good instincts and Mikey is a lucky little guy to have found you.

pearllyn
That's a very interesting looking cage - it will keep Mikey busy for hours! You will just have to watch and make sure he can stretch his wings fully - of course if he is out more than he is in, this won't be as much of an issue! I have one of the rope perches Judy mentioned and it gets a lot of use - I have one end attached to the cage door, so when the door is open, it acts as a perch on the outside of the cage too, and is a landing or take off point for Aflie! Thanks for sharing your cage with us, I'm sure Mikey will love it! Lyn & Alfie.
Luvparrots
Mikey's cage is gorgeous. I too am just a little concerned that it is over crowded. Your grey does need to be able to extend his wings and flap them around. To be able to give a good stretch. I waited about three months before I was able to get my baby grey and I fussed around with her cage many times. She spends a lot of time outside of her cage but she does like to move around in her cage and climb the roof and walls.
