lovethatgrey Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 My last one was pretty cruddy so today I purchased a new Kitchen scale instead and it was on sale for only $9.99 from $29.99 What kind of scale do you guys use to weigh your parrots?

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2010/01/10 02:41
Joolesgreyuk Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I use my hairdressing scales (more accurate than kitchen scales) for mixing small amounts of colour. They cost about £27/£28 about a year or so ago. I would prever avian scales but they are a ridiculous price and no more accurate than mine.
lovethatgrey Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 I completely agree and believe as "parrot owners" we don't require exact precision.
SunnyBird Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I have an old metal scale with sliding weights which goes up to 12 kilos, I think. I use it to weigh my cats, too! Simba still thinks he can fit in it (he's 9 months old and he weight 5 1/2 kilos!!) :woohoo: Selini's on the stool waiting her turn...
JillyBeanz Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Ha Ha! The look on Simba's face Renate - fantastic - looks like he's just eaten the parrot!!! I use my normal kitchen scales - the bowl lifts off and there's a little stand thingy underneath - Harvey obliges and step onto it. I agree with Julie - the avian ones are RIDICULOUSLY priced - absolutely rip off!!!
Luvparrots Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I just sent off for a new avian scale. Will send pics and new Ana Grey weight when it gets here. I'm excited!

Luvparrots Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Right, it was on sale and frankly, I can't find my other food scale and I want to weigh my fids!!! So poo to you Jilly!!!! :P
judygram Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I have a digital gram scale that came with a removable perch but Josey doesn't use the perch as she will stand on the scale itself, don't remember what I paid for it but it wasn't real cheap.
chelseaB Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I have a Redmon digital bird scale for Biscotti. I like the perch it came with, 3 different size dowels, so birds of different sizes can be comfortable on it.
chelseaB Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 WHAT??? That can't be right!!!! ( Biscotti must have learned that from me!)
