Cuttlebone and seed

Do you guys use cuttlebone? Is it something good to have in all grey cages or can it end up giving too much calcium? I used to hear great things about it but some people reccomend staying away from it. Also do you feed a seed mixture with your pellets? I don't want him to end up eatting just seed and refusing everything else. Thank you for any advice.

It all depends on whether or not you feel your fid is getting enough calcium, if he is eating pellets he probably is, if not then he may not be. Beau doesn't eat very many pellets and so I put cuttlebone in his cage, he doesn't eat a lot of it but it is also useful for beak sharpening. It's personal choice.

I have a cuttlebone in Harvey's cage - but not for it's calcium content, merely for the destruction content! Harvey likes to rip them to "dust" - he treats them like a toy!

I offer a seed mix too - but mix it in with his pellets to "fool" him - as I'm sure if I offered a bowl of seed the pellets would be forgotten! ;)
