katana600
After Juno passed away yesterday, I took him back to Jacksonville to his original home. Our breeder and their vet are handling the final arrangements. Perhaps in a week we will have scientific information that will benefit someone else if this could have been prevented. His breeders were there for me and his vet stayed in her office past seven pm to receive him and will work with a specialist in California. Nothing will ever replace our joy and love for Juno. If we have any answers that will benefit someone else it will be a balm to our broken hearts. Thanks for being here for the good stuff and for the compassion and kindness. pearllyn
I do hope you get some answers Dee, for your own piece of mind and to be sure there is no danger to Java. It sounds as if the vet and the breeder will do all they can to give you some sort of understanding of this tragic event. xx
danmcq
Dee - You, the Breeders and your vet all displayed "Honor Respect and Strength". Thank for hanging in there and staying here to benefit us all in your hour of darkness. You truly are a "Light" in the dark. God Bless - Dan
JillyBeanz
That little boy had more love, care and kindess in the last six months (because this is how long you knew he was yours for) and has had the best month being in your care. He couldn't have asked for more from you, your vet or your breeders.
Acappella
Dee, I'm so sorry you lost Juno. As much and as well as you cared for him, he loved you and knew he was loved. I'm sorry we didn't get to celebrate more milestones with you and your sweet boy.
Luvparrots
Thank you Dee. Even in your time of grief you are the loving and caring person we have all grown to love and care about. Juno had a wonderful short life with a most loving parront and God has brought him home so He can enjoy the love you taught Juno to share.

caseyandmikey
I know words can't take your pain away I just want to be sure to extend my hand during this hard time. I just read through your thread about Juno's first year last night. It was so nice to see how excited you were waiting for him to arrive. It is such a long process until the baby comes home. Your happiness should have lasted a lifetime. I am so sorry it only lasted a month. I truly hope you find some answers. Just stay strong and find comfort in knowing you gave a beautiful bird a wonderful home. It is not the quantity of life it is the quality. Juno definitely had a wonderful quality of life. I am so sorry it didn't last longer. Stay strong and watch Juno fly to rainbow bridge.
katana600
Thanks so much again everyone. CaseyandMikey, you are so right that our happiness should last a lifetime and it did last for Juno's lifetime. Even in the void of his loss, I wouldn't do anything different if I had foreknowlege of the time we are passing through now. We just got word from the breeder on the initial exam and there was nothing to give us any answers. Even with the slides we are sending away we may not find a reason for this and that is okay too. What we will know for certain is if there is any contagious factor that could affect our other bird and it is not likely. We will celebrate Juno's life with us and remember the delightful whoop when he would fly to me. We will cherish the look on his face when he spotted a banana within his reach. When he was feeling down and I read Jay's recipe for mashed sweet potato mash, he ate it with relish. He really only had one day of failing and was kept comfortable thanks to advice from this forum. Please enjoy your holiday and know we are all together here for a reason. You have all brought me great comfort at an awful time. I am staying connected with the forum and will get through the rough times knowing you care. Better times are ahead and what is meant to be will be. There are great mysteries and great joys in our lives that human minds will not understand, but I think the African Greys the world over are ahead of us to live in the moment and be joyful.

Post edited by: katana600, at: 2009/12/21 04:
