miltie Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 Did you know you can freeze grapes. Wash them and place them on a tray and put them in the freezer. Let them there about 2 hrs then put them in baggies. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 How are they after they thaw out? I have never tried to freeze grapes. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Lidia Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 I didn't know that either! It makes sense though, if you don't eat a lot of grapes yourself but give them to the little monster who makes all the noise. I know Joshua likes to play with an ice cube. He holds it in his beak and shakes his head madly from side to side to get rid of the water. And never seems to get bored with the game. And always seems surprised by the water. Hmmm. My little idiot savant ... {Love-00020113}

Post edited by: Lidia, at: 2007/07/25 08:14 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
danmcq Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 Miltie - That is a great tip on the Grapes! :-) Lidia - Ice Cubes...that sounds like a fun thing! I am going to see how Dayo reacts this weekend when we get him for a few hours :-) It is so comical to see them pick something up and just shake it to pieces ...of course, then there's the mess of all the little pieces of fruit that have flown 10 feet away :blink: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Lidia Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 It's terribly cute, though, because the shaking of the head looks for all the world the same as a dog shaking its head. It is just cute, cute, cute. Right, back to making my bed. New bed delivered this morning and I have been assembling it for the last hour and my hands are very tired from screwing things in, bashing things on, and twisting things around. judygram Posted August 2, 2007 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Now getting the pea in the middle of an ice cube, I guess you would have to wait for the ice to partly form and then place the pea in the middle otherwise it will go to the bottom, you reckon!!! Insert laugh.:laugh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
GOOSIE Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 All the ideas i have read sound wicked, i should have atleast one a day for the rest of the week or so for him to try! Thanks Guys!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dblhelix Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 regarding the pea thing...may need to fill the ice tray 1/2 way and freeze...then insert pea on top or frozen layer, add more water and freeze. That is of course assuming the pea sinks to the bottom! B) cool idea, will need to try that as a puzzle/treat thing!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 I'm gonna try that too, but I may not limit it to a pea, you could use other foods too. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

eve Posted August 3, 2007 Share Posted August 3, 2007 oh and are peas one of the veggies that have to be blached before freezing? should we use a frozen pea rathre then fresh? just checked a frozen pea sinks... so does defrosted pea. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted August 4, 2007 Share Posted August 4, 2007 Fresh, frozen, canned or blanched, I don't think it makes any difference.:whistle: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest briansmum Posted August 5, 2007 Share Posted August 5, 2007 who'd have thought you could have such conversation about a pea? :laugh: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Talon Posted August 6, 2007 Share Posted August 6, 2007 These are great ideas! Talon loves to hold an ice cube and eat it! I never thought to put something in it! Thanks for the suggestions! :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Pryde Posted August 7, 2007 Share Posted August 7, 2007 My vet is recommending staying away from grapes at this point. While birds really do love them there have been trouble with grapes and raisins with dogs and the vet is saying better safe than sorry. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
judygram Posted August 7, 2007 Share Posted August 7, 2007 I don't feed grapes much either, I was told they don't have much nutritional value. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Lidia Posted August 8, 2007 Share Posted August 8, 2007 Tried Joshua with a frozen grape yesterday, and he gnawed it for a couple of minutes and then glued permanently it to the wall. I will try again tonight. Back to peas. We are a pea-loving household (Joshua and I) and I often steam a BIG bowl of peas for myself and Joshua gets a tablespoon full of them. A teeny knob of butter (don't want to overwhelm the peas) and some cracked black pepper. Heaven, I tell you. Perfect telly food.

Post edited by: Lidia, at: 2007/08/08 17:44 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Lidia Posted August 10, 2007 Share Posted August 10, 2007 Joshua likes the frozen grapes now, but one or two is enough, as he can't just squish them to get the juice out. Last night, he waited for one to soften just enough and then chewed it to death. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
