Hi, Glad you found this forum. People don't tend to actually sell babies here on the forum - but hopefully someone in your area will be able to advise of a local breeder for you.

I hope you've done your homework and decided whether a grey is right for you - they disrupt your "normal" lifestyle immensely and things will never be the same again! ;)

Saying that - I wouldn't be without Harvey - even if it means I get up earlier to get his fresh food sorted, rush home quickly on an evening to see that he is okay and let him out of his cage and don't now tend to go away for weekend breaks - as it's just too much hassle!!!

Good luck!! ;)

My fiancee and I are very excited to get our CG this January. We have done a ton of research and are willing to change our lives for this opportunity.

Once we have him/her home I'll submit a photo. A quick question I have; is there such a thing as "parrot proofing" the house?

Quick Answer! No! Only joking!! There are many dangers that our birds can stumble on. I found this article particularly useful in the early days:

As for protecting your possessions - it's a case of keeping an eye on them at all times when they are out of their cage. Many owners don't have door frames, cushions etc due to their darlings taking a fancy to them!!

Once you get your grey you'll realise just how precious these babies are - and I look forward to seeing yours :)

Post edited by: JillyBeanz, at: 2009/12/05 17:58

I have made sure all my plants are non-toxin to animals and have removed all hazardous things to all pets. I also have perches and boings throughout the home and my fids know that these are the places they can go. In the being if they went somewhere I didn't want them to, I removed them and put them on their stands, boings or perches. I also have foraging containers and toys at thesr places so that they have things to do. Hope you find the right grey for you soon.

Thanks LuvParrot...We only have one main concern at this point:

- We have many electrical cables i.e. the coffee machine and the microwave. Is there a special cover I can use for these types of appliances or should I just unplug them when not in use perhaps.

Maybe we are being overly concerned but the last thing I want to do is to hurt our new buddy due to curiosity.
