MrsBridenstine
I have only had my grey for 3 weeks, he is 4 1/2 months old. The breeder I purchased him from gave me a bag of Tropimix Lovebird/cockatiel Premium Formula (I will put the description at the bottom of this page) and also a bag of Polly Pasta (pasta, fruit and some other stuff) that I boil and soak. She told me to offer him one spoon full of the pasta/fruit soak warmed up once a day. Since I have had him he has not touched any of the polly pasta. He picks through the tropimix and eats the seeds out but leaves everything else. I have offered him chopped up apples and he ate them, but only once. I tried broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, sno peas, and lettuce but he doesnt eat any of it. He does pick out the carrots and tries them but he only eats like one string of it (less than 1/4 inch long and the size of a shoelace) I am worried that he isnt getting a good enough diet because he is so picky. I have treats hanging all over his cage and he doesnt touch them. I just bought a bag of peanuts (unsalted) from the pet store. I gave him 4 and he picked the shells off but didnt eat the nuts. I have given him 4 everyday for the past week not but I bet he has only eaten 2 or 3 single peanuts during the whole time, he just leaves them lay after destroying the shell. I give him fresh water daily, and fresh tropimix. He loves to tear his newspaper apart on his gym but other than that he just wants to be around me all the time. He doesnt really play with any toys or anything. I am worried he is hungry and not getting the proper nutrition. Any suggestions? What about pellets that have a complete diet for parrots?
