mdunkin
My 7 month old Afrian Grey got a yeast infection and has regressed since then. I went to the vet and he is almost done with him meds. He used to mumble and to try to speak and know he just whistles. I am afraid he is not going to talk. Has this happened to anyone else?
Dave007
Illness has nothing to do with talking. Very healthy birds talk and ill birds can talk. Your bird is very young and many birds don't start talking until they're older than 7 mts. Some very healthy birds never talk and that also applies to birds who are in ill health. Luvparrots
I wouldn't start worrying. Give him a chance to recuperate and see what happens. Just keep talking to him and relax. My grey is a quiet little lady and some days she just has nothing to say. So relax and be happy your grey is getting well.

Post edited by: luvparrots, at: 2009/11/24 02:
ramsabi
This happened to Rishi when he was sick a couple of months back. We thought he had lost his voice. He recovered in a week's time.
jules1962
When i first got Nelson, Casper stopped speaking for about three weeks. And then he just started again as if he had never stopped.
