Hope everyone and their feathered masters are doing well this evening....Bismark and I just finished our "welcome-home-from-work" choir practice and ironically enough are both eating (although Bismark has better manners than me, as he is not eating/typing at the same time ha). I am going to my father's house tomorrow evening for a belated birthday dinner (I turned 25 on Tuesday) - and he has hinted several times that he really wants to meet Bismark. I would love to bring Bismark, as I do not get to see my father often, but do not want to set the stage for a disaster. Bismark has only really traveled to the vet, however 10 minutes after arriving he was completely relaxed and chewing on my collar while the vet and I talked. One concern I have is that there will be 6 people in the house. The other is I'm not sure what would be the best way to "guide" Bismark through the evening - we will be having dinner on the main floor, followed by a movie in the basement - would he be more comfortable being in the dining room with everyone but alone during the movie? or would he be happier in the quiet basement? Or both? I would be bringing his portable perch (a modified old wooden ladder) which he sits on almost daily. Sorry this post ended up being longer....Just curious for your input! Dr. Irene M Pepperberg (wow I use her as a reference a lot) had an assistant update their AlexFoundation Twitter page that Griffin and Wart were watching an Indiana Jones movie and Wart was scared of the snakes scene. So I'd say he'd enjoy both dinner and the movie. He'll also probably enjoy the attention from everyone else as he'll be the life of the party. It was great in summer, I would take one of mine to BBQ's and they loved the company and different scenery. I think its great to try and socialise our Greys and show them pastures new.
