LISA1972
Hi There, Hope someone can give me their advice please. I have a two year old CAG "Barney", but he is so scared of everything. I have had him from 16 weeks old but unfortunatley he was already clipped when we had him...which is where the vet has said his problems are....as he's unable to fly off somewhere and land if something spooks him. His wings however have now grown back and he can fly...BUT....unable to land, so all's he is doing is crash landing everywhere, he has had them many accidents, the recent being last night when he flew straight into the windon and broke the end of his beak off which bled a little. I'm so unsure what to do, as i've read another CAG may help him come on more, but i'm scared that he will freek out with another bird and start to pluck his feathers.....am i just been over protected or do you think something like this would help him. Anyone who has a bird similar to Barney, you comments would be very muchly appreciated. Many Thanks Lisa

Post edited by: LISA1972, at: 2009/11/18 00:
Luvparrots
My Ana Grey is 15 months old. I got her when she was 4 months old and clipped. She just started to fly through the house last week. She has always really wanted to fly and from day one tried all the time. She is an independent grey. During the time before she started to really fly we would practice. I would put her on my arm and gently launch her toward the couch and she would catch air and gently land on the couch where she was well cushioned. We did this alot and now she is confident and flys where she wants to go. She isn't an expert flyer yet but she gets better every day. I hope this helps. Good luck. Guest jamalbirdbiz
my 2 greys are expert flyers. B) they can both turn on a dime and perform grate maneuvers. best thing i cans tell u is that u must close ur curtains so ur bird doesnt keep crashing into the windows. that had 2 hurt. pearllyn
Hi Lisa, Sorry to hear about the problems you are having. One of our other members just got her 5 month old grey last week, and she is worried about him hurting himself as he learns to fly, so she has turned a spare room into a "fledging" room, padding it up with old duvets and cushions etc. Maybe you could do something similar so at least your grey wont get hurt as he finds his wings! Then he will hopefully become more confident! Let us know how you come on. Lyn x
