Georgiesmum
Hi all, Im bringing home my baby grey in about 3 weeks and i was just wondering what food to have in... I know to have the basic african grey mix but in regards to treats and other foods im not so sure as there is so many things to choose from. I know not all greys are going to like exactly the same foods but if ye could just give me a guide line so ill have some nice things for him when he comes home... he will be about 12 weeks. Thanks xxx
she
I think it would be best to talk to your birds breeder and ask what food he/she is being fed now, that way you can feed the same to lessen the stress of the home coming and if you wish to alter things it can be done over time. JillyBeanz
I totally agree with Sheila - keep him on the same as the breeder has weaned him on - change things slowly over time. My breeder actually supplied me with a "baby pack" of food - and told me what to add/how much etc to give him. Things can be introduced/changed at a later date - but leave things as they are now. judygram
I would take a good look around the bird food room for lots of ideas and suggestions on what to feed but here is a link to a thread that list what vegetables and fruits they can have: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html

Luvparrots
Ana Grey's breeder sent me home with a "goody bag" for her when I picked her up. It was full of homemade birdy bread, chopped vegetables and pellets. Ana Grey had food for a couple of weeks. She also gave me a journal of dos and don't and likes and dislikes. So I would ask your grey's breeder lots of questions about what your baby grey is eating. That's always a good place to start. Can't wait to hear how the homecoming goes!
