Help!

I was just getting ready to leave for work, and Chimay and I were playing peek a boo in our bedroom...he seemed to be enjoying it but then he started bobbing his head and out popped an undigested whole pine nut. I use pine nuts as training treats and he absolutely loves them. It concerned me b/c he had some pine nuts over two hours earlier and I was surprised to find them whole. He's never ever done this before and immediately I was concerned...is this love or illness? He's acting just fine otherwise, if anything he seems overly hyper at the moment. I put him up on his Jolly Ball to let him chill and calm down a bit, and he's happily chewing away on a wooden block.

I've already called the vet who advised me to keep an eye on him for at least an hour and if it continues, to bring him in this afternoon. Just wanted to put the situation on this forum as well to get general opinions. He'll be 1 year old on 11/28/09

Its not unusual for them to have whole items in their crop if they do not chew them up before swallowing but you did the right thing to call your vet and if he told you to just watch him for an hour or two then he should be fine.

He probably was gurging for you which is a sign of affection but if he is acting normal then I wouldn't worry too much but let us know how he is in an hour or so. We really can be worry warts can't we.

Thanks Judy! That was my suspicion as well but I knew I'd feel that much better if people in this wonderful forum shared the same opinion. It's been nearly an hour now so I'm likely going to get him into his cage so that I can go to work. I'm sure my boss thinks I'm nuts for using sick time for my bird :S Haha!
