katana600
I think someone here posted pictures and instructions to make this thing, maybe called an orbit? The only thing I changed was to use jute instead of the sisal at Dave's suggestion. The inside is inexpensive sprinkler system tubing at ten dollars for a hundred feet. I took the pieces to the garage and used a solder tool to burn a hole at each end of the twelve pieces of tubing and tied the jute inside to help it hold tight. The seed catcher on the bottom came from a Wild Bird Center store and keeps our little dogs from getting wood pieces or almond shells after we had an expensive vet visit from one of them having an obstruction, he nearly died. This keeps the floor from getting messy too. The picture makes the ceiling fixtures look deceptively close, it is at least two feet away and we have a clear plastic squirrel baffle at the end so the bird can not get to the frame around the doorway. katana600
It really isn't that hard, just time consuming to wrap the string. I have to do something to pass the waiting time for Juno. Time will tell if it holds up to a CAG, I will let you all know though.
