pga7602 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Can someone recommend a good light bulb to use above corals cage? We live in an apartment, so he only gets sunlight 4 times a week. I want to ensure he's getting his UVB rays.
pearllyn Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I use the Arcadia compact lighting kit. It provides the full spectrum and consists of a light, holder and reflector. It was recommended to me by my Vet (Avian) and I haven't had any problems with it. Hope this helps. x
Luvparrots Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I got my full spectrum lighting set up at True Value last year. Works great for my fids.
pga7602 Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 pearllyn: I'll look into that. loveparrots: Exactly what brand did you get? I have a true value near my home and want the same.
pga7602 Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 Can I use something like this? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xhc/R-100613495/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 Or like this? http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xhc/R-100687004/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 Or does it really have to be made for birds? Thanks guys!
Lex Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 How log do you leave the light on for? and everyday? been looking in to this set up for a while now winter is on the way.
pearllyn Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Pga, I'm not sure about those ones. Bulbs for humans might not have the UVA and UVB rays that birds find beneficial. Lex, I give Alfie at least 4 hours a day under her light. She looks like she enjoys it!
