lovethatgrey
I was just wondering whether anyone feeds this to their grey or parrots and how do they like it. I might purchase it for my Emma. Right now she eats the high potency coarse.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/10/16 22:

lovethatgrey
{Feel-good-00020114}You are correct. I went on the Harrisons site and it is recommended to feed the High potency pellets ALL year round. The Pepper coarse is good for variety but mostly recommended to other medium type parrots like Macaws. I will stick to the High potency ones since I already add cayenne pepper to her homemade birdie mash.
rbpittman
I take a bag of pepper coarse, high potency coarse and power treats and mix them thoroughly and store in an air-tight glass canister. I follow the recommended feeding amount 2-3 tbsp. per bird and make sure they have pellets all day. I do not see a distinction between the pepper or the high potency. I will find the power treats left more often than not.
chapala
I personally believe that the Harrison's Lifetime Formula is better suited for non-breeding Greys, because the protein and fat content in the High Potency formulas are higher than recommended for our pet Greys. The high potency is good for the large Macaws who do have higher protein and fat requirements than most other parrot species. Of course I also feed sprouted grains and legumes, fresh vegetables, and a little fruit, seed and nuts.

rbpittman
I didn't know there was a distinction between the lifetime and high potency. Thanks for the information.
