pixie
What do you think about these cages ? I'll look more in some other stores ,those are the first that look acceptable . There's only one thing, frame is painted (as you can see in the picture) with some paint that feels rough (like extra fine emery-it's not - just feels that way) ,"Blue LUX" as they call it , so i wonder if that could present some health threat? (but they do make cages for parrots , i guess they thought about it ?) #try links below Post edited by: pixie, at: 2009/10/09 01:18

Post edited by: pixie, at: 2009/10/09 01:

pga7602
I can't read Italian, but the description says BIG CAGE SIRIANA ZINC... That doesn't mean Zinc right? I believe Zinc is poisonous to birds.

pixie
Please help! Is there any way i could buy cage that is cheaper than 2000 dollars and be sure my bird is safe. I've read some texts about what material is suitable for cage. It only made me more undecidable. It turns out that everything is poisonous :side: . One article says brass is completely safe , other says that brass is alloy of zinc and copper and not good for cage. Then i see some cage that costs 300 euros and that's brass coated. Paint contains led and zinc , so painted steel is no good. Zinc coated cage could be poisonous ... WHAT DO I DO !??! They say that if level of zinc is below 270ppm zinc it's fine . Is that true ? I can't believe that large manufacturer like FOP (or any other that specializes in bird cages) makes potentially dangerous products. and try this link  hope it's not broken like others http://www.fop.it/images/assembly/50100030.pdf'>http://www.fop.it/images/assembly/50100030.pdf or http://www.fop.it/images/assembly/50100030.pdf
Dave007
$2000!!! Oh man, that's insane. Go to EBAY---type in bird cages a large amount of pages will open up. Each will give the size, and what materials the cage is made of. If you scroll down each cage you'll see pictures of different cages abd diofferent sizes. You'll be given a large amount of info on the cage, The most important thing to look for is that the cage is ***powder coated*** PS----before typing in bird cages, clicl\k on BUY IT NOW. That will allow you to get the cage at the advertised price where no bidding is involved.
