sounds like he just got a bit full and had a bit of a tummy ache to me. he should be fine, if it happens next time then you should probably call a vet

When you say he was screaming and then threw up his baby food, be a little more specific. Did he regurgitate it from his crop? If so, he may have done it deliberately. And when you say he was screaming, what exactly do you mean? Was he doing feeding behaviour?

thats what i was thinking as brian did it once when i was handfeeding him, he took a bit too much, made a few baby feeding time screaches and then regurgitated it back out. i took it slower after than and it never happened again. obviously if what you experienced sounds more severe than that you should see a vet tari

Birds regurgitate to show affection but usually not until they are older and it should not be prefaced by any type of screaming that would indicate distress or pain.

Thanks for all your info, his screaming was what he normally does at about 10pm everynight, playing whith his toys and getting all crazy, so that was very normal. He has just eaten. He then just sort vomited/reguritated and that was it. Then carried on as normal, I called the vet and he told me not to worry, just watch his poop and any other changes. He is feeding fine and active as normal...so I will wait today and see what happens.

When checking his poop, make sure there are no undigested seeds, etc, in it. It should be smooth and normal poop. Undigested matter would indicate a gastric problem.

If the poop is fine, then all your bird is doing is being a silly baby bird, which is cute. It sounds like he was just getting over-excited when playing and regurgitating blissfully. It is a normal response to pleasure. They want to share (eeeeew).

Glad to hear all is well.

Post edited by: Lidia, at: 2007/07/19 12:29
