Poop Frequency

How often does your Grey poop? Coral has been with me for three days, and I noticed the frequency of poop is getting less and less, but when I am playing with him, he's still up to a poop per 10 min. I'm not sure if this is still due to the stressed in a changed environment, or something is the matter.

I agree with Julie - check what the poop is like. There are three parts to parrot poop - one is the stool (the more solid, brown/green consistency, the clear liquid is urine and the white part is urate (kidney toxins). The urine element can increase when your bird has eaten fruits and watery vegetables, and urate colour can change through diet too (but mostly white or creamy coloured is "normal").

Coral should poop in accordance with the amount she eats and drinks - but Harvey does "go" quite consistently each 10 - 15 minutes.

Just keep an eye on her - you will learn what is "normal" for her. ;)

The consistency and looks should matter more than frequency as they do seem to drop one very often during the day and then hold it all night dropping that big bomb in the morning. And the color is affected by what they eat, try giving some fresh beets and see how pretty the morning bomb will be.

Chimay's poopies also vary depending on what he's been eating or how much he's been drinking. Example: After he gets the morning bomb out of the way (sometimes two bombs) his first and second poops of the day are usually on the watery side b/c he has diced apples and pears with his birdie pancakes for breakfast. As the day goes on and he eats more pellets and veggies they favor a more solid consistency.

I've heard on this forum (can't remember the exact post, sorry) that if you're really concerned about the droppings, rub it between your fingers.   I know I know....gross, but from my understanding the texture should feel smooth, not grainy. Others here can CERTAINLY correct me if I'm wrong, just repeating my recollection of a post from this forum.
