kljohnso
Simba is on Zupreem Avian Maintenece. I noticed the other day he was taking a pellet at a time and dropping it into his water. Then he would he leave his head down in the water bowl for a second then he would pick the pellet back up and eat it...So wierd! Does anyone elses bird do this? Sure explains why there is so many pellets in his water when I change it. lol.
particle77
This is a pretty common behavior for many kinds of parrots. They seem to prefer the texture of soggy pellets.

Char
Whisper does not dunk her pellets but it is quite common. You have to be extra diligent with dunkers with changing the water or use a water bottle because the food in the water will grow bacteria. If not already you should put the water bowl as far away from the food as possible to discourage it.

Post edited by: Char, at: 2009/09/13 15:
Luvparrots
Both my Grey and Eclectus are dunkers. Because of this, I change their water twice a day, little boogers!
lovethatgrey
Some parrots do Enjoy making soup out of their pellets. In cases like this don't forget to change the water often because bacteria tends to set in quickly.. especially on hot days.
Greywings
Have you noticed that sometimes the water is blue or pink mine seems to enjoy the color of they day, she does not get pellets very often and not colored ones at all, but she loves to soak her colored wooden beads to make her water colorful. Their seems to be a color of the day.
