terminalxs
So, just browsing through the "Bird Food" forum and have seen a lot of terrific ideas and recipes for Greys. I eat a lot of fish, myself. Haven't seen anything about fish here. I eat a lot of tuna (chunk canned in water usually). Also, I love salmon. Is fish okay for greys? Can they do raw fish (like the salmon)? How about fresh water fish like perch and walleye (cooked)? Before I even put down the deposit on my new fine feathered friend, I really want to KNOW how to take care of him, so I just want to say thanks for this forum right now! dhorje
My CAG loves fish. I always give her fresh cooked fish not from the can. Canned fish is high in heavy metals and preservatives.
judygram
Canned fish is also high in added salt.

lovethatgrey
I give my parrots grilled salmon the size of an eraser on a pencil. I would not give them swordfish, shark or mackerel because these types of fish tend to contain much higher amounts of mercury. Occasional bits of cooked fish is fine for your parrot as long as there aren't any heavy, greasy or fatty sauces included.

Post edited by: lovethatgrey, at: 2009/09/08 04:
SchroedersJen
My birds love fish ("fishy meats mmmmmmmmm, yummy" -Buddy), and unfortunately, it is one of the few foods they like to fling. As a result, they only get it right before I clean the cage, otherwide Id have a really smelly house. They get the same fish that I eat, nothing with too much mercury. Buddy has been known to try to hide it under his wing and in various toys (he is a food hoarder) so I have to watch him eat it to make sure potentially smelly bits dont end up lingering around. He knows microwaved food is no good for health.
JillyBeanz
Ha Ha! I promise they are fast, flash frozen 100% fillets! Honestly - it's the kids I feed sausage rolls and McDonald's each day!! Only kidding!
