denalibelay
If anyone uses the Sandy Perch, do you choose the medium or large. I have large in my cage but I notice on the Sandyperch website they recommend medium. I want to buy some more because they are not available here in South Africa and I would like to know which is the correct size.
judygram
Why not get both, they need perches of varying diameters and shapes, it keeps their feet in good condition for if they stay perched on the same size all the time sometimes their feet can become "frozen" into that shape. denalibelay
Thank you so much! I'll order a medium then as well.
Moobu
I read somewhere that you were not supposed to get sand perches for greys. I don't remember where but I was advised to stick strictly to cement perches. Be careful where you place the sandy perch. If they spend too much of their time on it they can develop sores and blisters on the bottoms of their feet!
denalibelay
Thanks for the "heads up". I have two Sandy perches which Sam uses, plus a terracota one which is made locally. So far, no feet problems at all, but I'll keep a watch on that.
lovethatgrey
We don't use any type of sandy perch in this home. If you do use the sandy perch just make sure that they aren't the highest ones in the cage.
Jingles
I love my sandy perches! I however do not get the slip on covers made with lose sand...only stuck on sand. I can scrub my sandy perches without anything falling off. But yea...I think a medium would do. plus the fact that they are not one shape is awesome too! denalibelay
I don't have the ones with the loose sand or covers either. I have two in the cage at the moment and have had them for quite a while. So far Sam's feet are just fine, but I'll keep a watch.
