Quickdood
Hey everybody I am looking for a little guidance. I really like documentary films and would love to find one about wild parrots in general and especially one with a good section on the African Grey in the wild. Do any of you know of any good parrot documentary films? Thanks, Greg
danmcq
African Grey documentaries are basically non existent, other than a very short one that just documents a trapper catching them and the ugly toll it takes. I watched it once and put it away... There are a couple of very good documentaries of Macaws in the wild and also of the parrots of telegraph hill in San Francisco. You can easily find these videos for sale by doing an Internet search. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/the-real-macaw/introduction/2729/ http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/player/kids/animals-pets-kids/birds-kids/macaw-kids.html http://www.parrotsinternational.org/Videos_1.htm
Jane08
I have seen the one from the World parrot trust, well actaully that's a lie I only watched the first part as I got upset with the rest of it and had to turn it off. It shows greys in the wild and then it goes on about illegal catching of them. Another one I have also seen is the life of birds and is a series on all birds around the world and has one section on parrots, no greys though. I think it was done by David Attenborough. It was a great series and really interesting if you love birds in general.
Quickdood
Yeah, I figured there weren't any ones on the grey, but I am surprised there are so few on parrots in general. Thanks for the tips. The best one I saw so for was Australia - Land of Parrots. I would recommend that highly.
chimaysmommy
Maybe we should all compile any footage we have of our greys and make a documentary "A Day in the Life...the Domestic African Grey." Lol! I've wondered the same thing myself, about documentaries or specials on parrots. Ideally I'd LOVE to see a series on wild greys, but on the other hand maybe not. I'd hate to see a documentary on them cause an increase in the illegal pet trade because of higher demand for them as pets.
Luvparrots
If you find a great documentary on African Greys in the wild, I too would love to hear about it so I can check it out!!!!
Mistyparrot
I have just watched "Parrots Look Who's Talking" it is a great documentary about parrots in general including African Greys. Each section is "introduced" by a talking African Grey. It was made by the BBC Natural History Unit. You will love it I guarantee ! It is available from: http://www.parrotmag.com/dvds They are currently doing a subscription promotion offering this DVD although that offer may only apply to UK residents. Anyone can buy it from their DVD store where they have a large range of parrot related DVDs.
