bobbisgran
Hello all. We just purchased our first Grey 2 days ago. She is 9 wks old. I wish I had read this site first I would have waited till she was fully weaned to bring her home. But that seemd to be going well. My question is when do you start giving baths? I just don't want to start too early. I couldn't reach the breeder to ask this question. Thank you.
Eckobird
As soon as the baby is fully feathered then you can start with baths. Are you experienced in handfeeding and weaning a baby grey?
JillyBeanz
Our breeder didn't give us the option of having Harvey before he was weaned. The breeder told us (as he and his father before have bred for 30 years +) that they wouldn't give an inexperienced parrot owner a bird before weaning. I think this is a very big responsibility - I don't think I'd be worrying about baths I'd be worrying about feeding her! Harvey had his first shower at 12 weeks (we'd had him a couple of days). I'm not going to say he liked it - because he didn't! He quite "happily" sits there and lets the water run off him in the shower now - but I haven't achieved the drench yet (he's 8 months old). bobbisgran
No I am not an experienced weener. Boy, does that sound funny. I really seem to be doing okay though. She is on 3 feedings a day. She is eating small pellets and seeds, canary size I would say. The breeder gave the seed to me. But if you have any suggestions af things to look for I will take them. Luvparrots
There are threads in the Nursery Room about baby greys. I hope they will help you.
