Verena Posted July 13, 2007 Share Posted July 13, 2007 hallo all! i was wondering. do cag's also suffer from seperation anxiety? could that be why he won't stay in his cage with the door closed and why he follows us around the house like a puppy? and if that's the case, how can we 'train' him to get over it??? your comments, as always, will really be appreciated... Guest Lidia Posted July 13, 2007 Share Posted July 13, 2007 AGs are flock birds, it is not natural for them to be alone and while you can easily get them into a routine where you go out to work for hours and then come back, if you're around they will almost always want to be with you, watching what you're doing. I would suggest you let him follow you around so that he doesn't develop separation anxiety when you have to go out and can differentiate between the two types of possible separation. judygram Posted July 13, 2007 Share Posted July 13, 2007 Lidia is right, greys are flock birds, they want to be with the flock, which is you and your family. Provide plenty of toys in the cage to occupy him when you do have to be gone for a while, also leave a radio on when you leave to simulate other people being around for company.
