peculiar behavior

HI,

I have had older greys as pets, its my first time with having a baby, she's 12 weeks. I've have had her for seven days now. She's very sweet, but she has a habit of spreading her wings out a little as she sits on the bottom of the cage, and then begins to make digging motions. Does anyone have a idea why she doing that?

Very normal for Greys. They all do it. We call it the "chicken scratch" In the wild, greys also feed from the ground. When mine was a baby she would go to the corner and scratch when she wanted out of the cage.

LOL - Thats chicken scratching, as the others stated. They are so cute at that age. :-)

Chimay does that every time he's in his cage and we're leaving for work...recently he's discovered a variation on the "chicken scratch" technique. He puts his little head down in the corner of the cage while standing on his food bowl, starts kicking but kicks in and out of the bowl itself so his pellets go EVERYWHERE

My Grey is 17, he's lived in the house going on two years now, and only recently has he done this. I thought he was going nuts, but then I found out (thanks to Google) that yes, this is normal behavior!
