jessdecutie18 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 The bird store owner clipped her TAG babys' wings Saturday, but she assured me that they have taken their first flight already. How long before the wings grow back?
judygram Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 It could be a year before the feathers all grow back enough for your baby to fly again, the wing feathers do not all come in at the same time since they are shed at different intervals. The bird store owner should have asked you whether you wanted your baby's wings clipped but the damage is done now.
Luvparrots Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 So sorry Jess. My grey's breeder clipped my Ana Grey before I picked her up also. Ana Grey is now a year old and still has those same clipped feathers. I can't wait for her to shed them and be able to fly!
lovethatgrey Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I would have to say that it takes at least 1 Year. I have my Emma as a reference.
danmcq Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 It took took 1.6 years for all of Dayos flights to molt out. He had 5 on each side "long clipped, meaning he could still fly, but not gain altitude. The time is variable depending on several different factors from bird to bird. An example of this would be if your bird damages a flight feather. This would result in that feather molting out and being replaced sooner.
