greystar
Star really needs a bath...and he is scratching and i know he would feel great after one...but he hats water, i tried to bring a large bowel and pou his toys in but noooooo way . i tried a the spary bottle but not just spray it in the air gently avoiding his face while he is in his cage, so it falls on his body, but he runs away.... i really want him to have fun during bath time, do i use the spray even if he moves away, but i am scared he would start to fear me ... can i add any kind of oil drops or something to stop the scratching? Eckobird
Do you have some aloe vera juice?? If not purchase some of that, you can find it at Walmart in the pharmacy section. It helps with dry skin and scratching. Put it in a sprayer and mist him, let him run away just keep spraying him thats how you get him use to it. Also try filling the bath tub up with a little water and let him walk around in it, splash some water on him and get him wet. Try to do this atleast 3 times a week, they need baths. Good luck
Luvparrots
I bathe my Ana Grey in the kitchen sink (easier for me), she enjoys it now but it took a couple of times for her to get use to it. Same with the sprayer misting. She hated it at first but now if she sees her mister she quickly climbs to the top of her playtop so she can fluff up, spread her wings and flap away. Now she looks forward to her misting. After a bath or a misting she is most vocal and talks away. Of course she might just be cursing me for messing up her do!!!!!
JillyBeanz
Hi greystar, have you considered the shower? Harvey will sit in the tray of the shower, or on the soap dish attached to the pole of the shower whilst I spray him down (with the shower in my hand). We haven't perfected the art of the actual drench yet - he'll sit there, but certainly isn't happy about it! ;)
judygram
Thats what I do also with Josey, she will tolerate a shower but she doesn't enjoy it for she won't open up her feathers so she will get drenched but I do the best I can.
