bigtiny50
My grey is on the Zupree food b/c that is what the previous owner was feeding her. I always thought natural seeds and fruits were healthier but I have tried giving her some fruits and vegatables on the side and some peanuts also. How much vegetables and fruits should she eat in a day? I do not want to over do it. Thanks in advance!!! By the way Tootie loves jalapenos... Tari
I feed mine as much as she wants. /shrug She is not fat. I try not to rely to much on pellet food. Veggies, fruit, pasta, rice make up most of her diet with a little seed mixed in.
Guest Lidia
I tend to give Joshua a full bowl of seed mix in the morning and then fresh fruit and vegetables in the evening, and whatever I'm having for dinner. He eats when and what he wants, for the most part, but he's healthy on it so it's not an issue.

judygram
Most all will stop when they are full, so you do not need to worry about overfeeding, just wasting food when they throw it out.
Guest Monique
A good pellet like Zupreem or Harrisons along with fresh foods is the healthiest diet for your parrot. My parrot Isaac is a BUTT HEAD and despite his breeder telling us he was completely weaned onto pellets (and telling us two brands to buy) ... well she told us a little white lie and the note accompanying him at the airport indicating he was only liking seeds right now. So, he gets 1/3 cup of seeds and a few tablespoons of fresh food (which he also hates unless you hand it to him) in the morning along with a smattering of pellets ... and then in the evening he gets seed. It can be really hard to convert them over to pellets once they are already eating seed.
judygram
But it can be done Monique, it takes time and patience to feed a little less seeds and a little more pellets and eventually it will be mostly pellets.
Guest briansmum
brian gets pellets, sunflower seeds and fruit for breakfast and veggies for dinner. he has a bit of whatever i have at lunch time, although i've just bought baby food which he likes from a spoon. i let him have as much as he wants, though unless it's a grape he usually only has a few mouthfuls of things then the rest gets thrown about.
