what can I use?

Apparently Harley is an escape artist and the cage that I'm giving him has the same kind of latches as the cage he has now. I don't want him to escape when I'm not home because he lets all the other birds out and makes a huge mess. I know pad locks can cause metal poisoning so I was wondering if anyone knows of something I can secure the food dish doors and the door so that he won't get sick.

On kiwi's old cage she got out so we zip tied it as tight as we could so that she could not get her beak in there. That did work although we still had to pad lock the main door. Her new cage she cannot get out of and it has 3/4 spacing so she cannot get her whole beak out to open the food doors. They can get naughty, hope you find some solution.

I use the large quick links on Charlies cage,so far so good.

We use the quick links too - Harvey hasn't managed to fathom these yet - quick to put on and quick to take off - very safe in cases of emergency etc.

I bought 4 of them yesterday. Talk about expensive for 4 nickel plated Quick links it cost me $14.85 that like over $3.00 each outrages Oh well its better that I know he safe than out eating my house while i'm gone.
