chinsNdobermans
Well, I am getting way ahead of myself in looking at bird cages, considering I don't have hubby's full approval yet, but I was looking at parrot cages the other night ( ). Do CAGs have a preference for playtop vs no playtop? Is it more of an individual bird thing? I saw one I liked that had a playtop with a door that could be opened or closed depending on whether or not the bird was supposed to be confined to the cage. I liked it! But obviously I don't want fork out the big bucks for a nice cage and not have a CAG approved one!
BaxtersMom
I think the domed top cages look alot better and some are made where the tops open up and a perch can be placed there. I myself prefer the flat top cages with the playstand on top. I have had both kinds and found that with the round top cages a couple of my flock members didn't really like to go up on it since it was rounded and it was a hassle to take the perch off when ever I wanted to close the top. I have all flat top cages now with playstands and that's where they seem to spend most of their time top my preference is the ones with the playtops. I think the main thing is too make sure the cage is nice and large so they have plenty of room. I can't wait to hear what kind of cage you end up getting. Please let us know "once hubby approves"
myafricanqueen
I like Flat top cages with the Playtop. I think Playtops are GreYt. If you go with no playtop I still think that flat top cages are better. More space and places to hang toys and place perches. Cristen
Luvparrots
Both of my fids have playtops and seem to love them. I leave the doors open and they go in and out as they please. The two I have have lots of places to hang toys with a wood ladder/perch for them to sit on.
HarleysMom
I like the playtop option, but I also like the room you have with the dometop. Sorry I'm not much help. My CAG and my son's Quaker both have the same style cage. The quaker has it in playtop, and the CAG has a dometop. They're both California cages. Harley uses every bit on the interior of his cage, so it makes sense for him to have the dometop. He has to be locked up while I'm at work, so it gives him space to play with toys, and climb around. I didn't choose his cage though, it came with when I bought him from his 1st family. Hank's (Quaker) cage, I bought 2nd hand, because he was destroying all the smaller cages. He could break the bars off, and open the door of the smaller cages we tried. He's quite the escape artist. He really enjoys his play area. We leave the tray out, though. Otherwise the inside of his cage seems so dark and dreary.

Post edited by: HarleysMom, at: 2009/07/24 04:
