He was sitting on his portable perch last night in my bedroom. He was comfortable on his perch with one leg pulled up. And he started making this noise with his beak: it sounded like card shuffling almost--but quieter.

He seemed pretty peaceful at the time.

He is also fixated on his tongue--sticking it out all of the time.

He's 3.5 months old.

Thanks

I know that sound you are talking about but I have never heard Josey do it but I have heard my sun conure do it, she is moving her beak very rapidly and it does sound similar to card shuffling, don't know what it means, maybe some others will know but it is cute to watch.

It sounds like he was beak grinding and that is a sign of content and feeling relaxed. They usually do this a lot before falling asleep. Thats a good thing, he is comfortable with you. ;)

Chimay does it as well, right before settling down for a nap/bedtime....right in line with what everyone else has said. It was a little strange at first, but after a couple of days when he came home it always made me smile when I heard that little beak grinding away.

We stick our tongues out back at him when he sticks his out. Not sure if he notices but it makes us laugh. ha ha!
