  1. This is Aris, an 8 year old male CAG...you can have a look at his past here : http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?198903-Hello-to-all-new-member I ve had him for ~5 weeks, a poorly socialised, totally untrained, highly territorial and aggressive bird, capable of producing very nasty bites if touched/handled carelessly and unwillingly... that is the progress of the last few days... https://vimeo.com/66012728 i am totally amazed, i ve never encountered such craving for contact and attention, he must have been deprived by his previous owners...i am not really sure how to handle such profoundly sexual behaviour...should i discourage it or use it to tame and bond with the bird further....
  2. Thank you all for your warm welcome...!!...Grey's name is Aris, given by his previous owners, a name that he understands and repeats... This is only the second week i am having him and there is real progress already... The first couple of days, i could only do the following (after much encouragement and praise): http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/o559/konanagno/P4240090.jpg the next couple of days, i was able to do this (really close to his formidable beak!!!): http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/P4240109.jpg.html?sort=3&o=25 this week has stopped puffing his feathers aggressively every time i approached his cage, and comes quickly down for a scratch....this upside-down scratching position at the corner of the cage is the one he used to take when the previous owners used to scratch him....mind you, Aris would not come out his cage...now, i ve been trying to lure him outside of his cage, and food wouldnt do the trick....so, i stopped scratching him at the corner and kept my hand immediately outside the cage, encouraging him to come out for a scratch!!! finally, he got it!!! (that's what i call real progress!!!): http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/P4240093.jpg.html?sort=3&o=41 There plenty of photos in Photobucket (3 pages of them) of Aris the Grey and Moyo the Zon, you can all help yourselves (following popular demand)...thanx again...http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/library/?sort=3&page=1
  3. thank you all for your warm welcome....it' s been a great surprise that other people as well would be Zon/Grey owners!!!...Zon's name is Moyo... I havent established whether Moyo is a he or a she (kinda difficult in Greece, i would have to send samples abroad ), but i seriously suspect that Moyo is a she, she just hates and being jealous of everyone/everything female!!!! After popular demand, i ve taken many photos of Moyo the Zon and Aris the Grey, you can all browse them here: http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/P42400703.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0
  4. My ~9 years-old BFA, has been with me almost all his life, bonded to me only, hates all the rest of my family unfortunately, have flown away twice (had forgotten re-clipping the wings), one time i took him down from a tall pine-tree with a broomstick, the other time i heard him screaming after 8-days of loss, followed the scream, and gave a generous tip to the person who had captured and gave him back to me....otherwise, we just adore each other... http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/IMG_5203.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/IMG_5226.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/IMG_5251.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s1147.photobucket.com/user/konanagno/media/PA030152.jpg.html?sort=3&o=9
  5. Hello, i recently brought home an 8 years-old, male CAG, from a family that couldnt care for him any further....he is in good health and has a decent vocabulary of words and sounds....the previous owners hadnt socialised the bird properly, he didnt have any toys to chew on, never took a bath, never taken out of his cage, while his diet consisted of sunflower seeds ONLY...nevertheless, he seems to be settling down alright, accepts food from my hands and an occasional scratch...he still is aggressive and territorial though, he s still afraid of coming out of his cage, but i hope in time we ll overcome all this... I am not a new parrot owner, i ve had a Blue Front Amazon for the last 8 years, and many more lesser birds previously...anyone interested in the Grey-Amazon interaction, i d be glad to share...m attending other parrot forums, and didnt know that there s a Grey specific one, so i am glad i found u guys...
  6. i brought home an 8 year-old, male CAG the week before, from a family that couldn't care further for the bird...he was initially bought from a pet store and the previous owners have not socialised him properly...he ll accept food from my hand, and a scratch on the head under certain circumstances...other than that, he is not coming out of his cage, and becomes aggressive when i approach his cage and try to open it, change the water/seeds etc...he wasnt used to getting out of his cage in general, and seems to be scared by my hands...i hope in time that we will bond...
