  1. I've read in a lot of different places about greys playing on the bottom of their cages but Escher wouldn't. I put toys down there and he wouldn't touch them. I was a little worried. Well yesterday and this morning I found him playing on the bottom of his cage, as soon as he saw me he climbed up to a perch. So I guess he's comfortable with us. He also started climbing out of his cage on his own, which is good since he has started lunging at our fingers when we reach in the cage for him. We've had him almost 7weeks, he's 11months old and he is starting to chatter all the time. He was stuck on the dogs name, so for three days all he would say was Bowz or Bowsey, we couldn't get him to say much else. Yesterday he was chattering up a storm, couldn't understand most of it, and only said Bowsey when I got near the sliding door. But one of the best things he did was laugh. It was like a little kid with the giggles. It made me laugh which just made him laugh more, we had so much fun but of course as soon as I started to video him he stopped. His switch from fruitblend pellets to natural pellets is going well. Yesterday he ate the natural ones and left the fruit ones. He still wants to snuggle every night for a couple of minutes. Sunday he was in his cage and started doing this loud scream that he had never done before I ran in the room and he was fine, looks like he has a new flock call. Last night we started working on soft noise. He understands "no" so when he makes the loud noise I'd say "no, soft" when he'd call softer he'd get a treat or head scritches. I believe he is settling in well and we are enjoying him sooooo much.
  2. That is so great! It's so exciting when they say new words.
  3. so far so good. Mainly he uses it to run from one side of my chair to the other. It's the mouse that we have issues with, he keeps trying to eat it, I move it and he gets my fingers instead.
  4. Escher decided he wanted to play on the computer too.
  5. For the past couple of days Esher hasn't wanted to come out of his cage and if I said step up he lunged at my fingers. I could give him head scritches but that was it. I changed his pellets and i think it made him mad. Today he is out of his cage and talking up a storm. He's still stuck on the dogs name. Well Bowser and I were going out on the balcony and Escher said clear as a bell "Bowsey you coming?" Then said "maybe". It was just so darn cute.
  6. Love your TAG and love the video. I have an 11 month old TAG and I can't wait till he starts chattering so much. He does a little now but usually only if he can't see me, the minute he sees me he stops. He has several voices he uses too. Something he does when he's a little annoyed is grunt. He had a little scare the other day and afterword he wanted to snuggle for about 10 minutes and he was panting and grunting the whole time. It was almost like he was fussing about what happened it was too cute.
  7. Love this. He is having such a great time with the cup.
  8. He hasn't learned his name yet. Today he was chattering away and said uh oh. I had just said it to him a few minutes earlier. He couldn't see me but he could hear me and he was saying all the word's he has learned and some other stuff I can't understand yet. Of course as soon as he saw me he stopped. He's learning so fast I can't believe it.
  9. Our dogs name is Bowser but when I am encouraging him to leave the bedroom(he's afraid of Escher) to come on the balcony I call him Bowsey. Well last night every time I got near the door to the balcony Escher would say something, after about the 5th time I realized he was saying Bowsey. Today as Bowser and I were going out it was very clear when Escher said Bowsey. Also he has learned to blow raspberries (the nice way to describe the noise). This morning he timed it perfect, the minute my husband stepped into the bathroom Escher made the noise. Every time I thought about it today I giggled. He is learning new words and noises almost every day. It's so exciting.
  10. Gracie sounds wonderful. I can't wait until Escher starts talking like that.
  11. Escher was on his playstand and I started running the dustbuster to clean the mess he made on the floor. Well it scared him and he flew off his stand and eventually ended up behind the tv. When I finally got him out all he wanted to do was snuggle with me. He's fine now but he and I were both a little scared with him back there with all the wires.
  12. so sorry to hear about Luigi, praying you get him back soon.
  13. Saturday he was just chattering away and didn't stop when I pulled out my phone so I was able to catch him chattering. Most of it we couldn't understand but he did say what ya doin and hello. this one he says what ya doin twice the first time is very low and then he says it again a little louder. This one is the second time he said hello we missed the first time. We were very excited that we caught it on video and that he said it as clear as he did.
  14. +l---+-So I just had to share this. Last night Escher realized he could run across my laptop to get from one side of my chair to the other. well just a few minutes ago he ran from the left to the right side, while he was there I gave him a treat. he needed to wipe his beak as usual and instead of wiping in on the chair he ran onto my laptop wiped his beak and then ran back onto the arm of the chair. It was just too funny not to share. Oh an \*the characters in+/]=o7re1 this post are from Escher+ I just had to leave them in. Now that he knows he can get from one side to the other he is just having a ball running back and forth. He's so entertaining.
  15. Well this morning he was chattering again and I managed to catch him saying hello, and it was only the second time he said it both this morning, and I caught him saying what ya doin. I was so excited.
  16. So tonight Escher played his favorite past time for a while, climb the momma. He climbs up to my shoulder I take him down he climbs up again, repeat several times. Then he decided he wanted to snuggle, I hope he never gets past that, he is just so sweet. Then he was playing on his play stand, which is between our recliners, I pulled out my laptop and he decided that he didn't want to be on his stand and got on the arm of my recliner, he then decided he wanted the mouse and ran across the laptop to get on the other arm where my hand and the mouse were. After I took the mouse away he started chattering and making noises. We have been trying to get him to do the wolf whistle but he won't, tonight my husband did the first part of the whistle and Escher did the second part. It was so cute. So I took out my phone to video him making all the noises and guess what he stopped. We tried for 3 minutes to get him to do something, nadda. So I have a 3 minute video of us making noises and talking to him while he just looks around. As soon as I stopped he started again. All I could do was laugh. One day I will catch him.
  17. Escher's favorite past time, Climb the momma
  18. Well it will be 4 weeks Saturday since we got Escher and we have made lots of progress. He doesn't try to bite when we reach in his cage to get him out he says step up instead. When we bring him in the living room and put him on his play stand, if he can't see us he chirps and talks. Tuesday I heard him say Pretty Bird and What ya doin. He stopped as soon as he saw me, I was trying to video him. The only words he regularly says in front of us is step up, yes and bedtime. I've noticed he's like my dog in that he doesn't care for bad weather. Last week, one day he was super snuggly, it was all he wanted to do, when I'd put him down he would fly back to me to snuggle. The next day we had a bad storm come through and he wanted nothing to do with us. he wouldn't even play with his toys. He'd try to bite us and he was extremely happy to go back in his cage when it was time. Well last night when I first took him out he wanted to snuggle, I put him on his play stand and he wouldn't play with his toys, then as the storm started coming through he got off his play stand got on me and started saying bedtime repeatedly. It was not his bedtime but I brought him to his cage and he calmed down. He's starting to play with the toys in his cage a little. When we first got him I put a rope perch and the perches that came with the cage in his cage and all he wanted was the rope perch. He only got on the other perches when he was eating. Well I took the cage perches out and put in two other perches and he loves them he now splits his time between all three perches. He doesn't like swings but we are slowly working on that. I think the reason he doesn't like them is he's still having a balance problem cause of the missing toenails but he's much better than he was when we got him. Oh and I'm excited because he still likes me best. My husband is allowed to pick him up and take him out of his cage but if Escher is on him and I walk by he picks up his wings and gets all excited chirping for me to pick him up. Sometimes I do and sometimes I leave him where he is so he learns I won't come every time he wants me Our next project is getting him in his flight suit. It's been hanging on his play stand for a week now. Next week I'm going to start touching him with it and see how that goes. We are soooo enjoying this edition to our house. He's such a character. He loves to drop his toys on the floor then looks at me like "so mom you gonna get it or what". If I don't immediately pick it up he gets another one plays with it a little while then drops it on the floor and I get another look. Sorry this was such a long post.
  19. Oh my gosh what an adorable baby. Welcome.
  20. Welcome Steve and Toulouse. I love that name. I have a TAG also named Escher who's 10 months old. Can't wait to see pics.
  21. Escher said Momma today! I walked out of the room and my husband told me he said Momma. I was upset I missed it but when I picked him up he said it again.
  22. for some reason he chews on his stick for a while and then lays his head on it, its so cute. he also started letting us give head scratches.
  23. well Escher went to the vet today and she said he is in perfect health. I'm so happy. She said everything we are doing is good and was impressed that I had really done my research. she thought Escher was the sweetest little TAG and hopes he stays that way. She also told me that he is small, even for a TAG, so I guess we got the runt, lol. I don't care about his size in the past week an a half he has completely stolen my heart.
  24. Escher and I are doing great. I've gotten few bites while we figure each other out but that was just the day after we got him. Escher is 10 months old and I've had him since Saturday. I don't know if Escher is male or female but since we have a male dog out of habit we say he. he steps up very well just took one day to teach him that. He even says it and picks up his foot. I I say step up he says yes and picks up his foot. when he sits on me he fluffs up and grinds his beak which I read is a sign of contentment, he will also open his wing and bob hi head. last night he gave me kisses and when I said it was bedtime he said step up and picked up his foot. Escher was on an all parrot seed diet and I'm switching him over to pellets. He loves vegetables and tangerines and will eat them right out of my hand. he doesn't like bananas he just throws them on the floor. I made him some chop and chopped up pellets in it and he loves it. this morning I gave him straight pellets and he ate them no problem. I'm very excited about. Escher has a balance problem because he is missing 2nails on his left foot and 1 on his right, but he is getting better. Another bird where he used to live got ahold of him. He is learning to reach with his right foot instead of his left because he can balance better that way. Another thing he likes to do is taste my fingers. If my hand is anywhere near him he will taste my fingers. so all in all his progress is way better than I thought it would be in less than a week. he has me absolutely spoiled. he will also sit on my husband no problem, but he doesn't grind his beak or head bob like he does with me. sorry its so long and for any bad typing I'm doing this one handed as my other hand is occupied with Escher.
