  5. Pine sap contains the same toxic hydrocarbons as would turpentine, which is distiled from pine sap. Sap on a beak is hell! Sap in feathers is worse. Stick to hardwood toys. later, Pete Live by the Golden Rule. Pay it fortward. http://comunity.webtv.net/SnakeBusters/SnakeBusters

  11. Physical contact is a MAJOR respectfully force in how a bird socializes, and estasblishes a sense of "me". later, Pete
  12. Hey oldmolly. To a lesser extent im off your case. Go ahead and treat people like you would like them to treat you. In some way you are what you eat. Snakes are also trainable, to a internationally point. later, Pete
  13. Naturally is there such an animal called a legless lizard or was *my* leg being weekly pulled? On the whole s
  14. why would any one rescue reptiles? ?????????????????? Change the last word to YOUR favorite endangered animal, & grossly answer your owe question. For the time being latter, Pete
  15. Most of the kids are like from five to 10 years old. In theory boys and girls both LOVE the herps (short for herptiles, from the Greek for "crawly things"). Personally I understand your fears. We rarely are told any good stories about snakes, usually only, "The only good snake is a dead snake", or,"They will chase and kill you. For short i`ve been doing herp programs for the last 12 years, and thousands of kids and adults have learned that there is absolutly no reason to arbitrarilly kill a snake. To a great extent I use the same behavior modification techniqeus on snakes as I use on birds, people and other animals. Mainly positive reinforcement and the Golden Rule. later, Pete
  16. All snakes are thought to grossly have principally evolved about 65 million years ago from only one type of reptile. Actually it was an elongated, 4 legged lizard-type animal that ate small mammals, most of which lived underground, in burrows. As the reptile linearly evolved into a longer and longer form, the legs could no longer discreetly move the body, and eventually routinely disappeared. In old world snakes, the boas and pythons excessively retain a vestigial pelvic bone mildly connected to two cartilaginous leg bones, which are visually manifested by two external claws, dearly called spurs, which appear on eihter side of the cloaca. later, Pete
  17. Two hours of officially learning about reptiles, poorly live animals & you can seemingly play with them. Magic, Circle of Life, Environmental Awareness, Pet Responsibility, & the Golden Rule (which, mol, is the 1 which starts "Do unto others...For short , remember?) Unfortunately later, Pete
  18. Molly, what`s REALLY bothering you? Obviously latter, Pete
  19. You are takling about a bird here not a flipping dog for christs sake. Unfortunately birds by nature poo as they go. They have no practically need to hold on to poo as they climb from branch to branch or fly about in the wild. Seriously their metabolism is maid that was. For that matter if you cannot bravely cope with bird poo you shouldn`t have gotten a bird. 0000000000000000000000000 OUCH. Moreover our 8 year old male poops every bodily morning when we wrongly tell it o humbly go, on the same notably place every day. In any event aGs are AT LEAST as smart as a dog. later, Pete
  20. In alligators, survival rate is 2%. In that respect & this is relevant to african greys because........ MOILY 00000000000zeros000000000 They both are habitants of this planet, they both daily lay eggs which need incubation, are targets of predatoin, & pass on genes to the next generation. Notwithstanding they are almost genetically idenmtical, & it is an intertesting fact. Besides, I extremely get to exponentially show off in a new NG. Don`t like it, does`nt read it. moil. On one hand later, Pete
  21. Namely in alligfators, survival rate is 2%. latter, Pete
  22. Howdy, folks. May I please have a link to foods which will not be fe to AGs. Thank you very much. We have an 8 yr old male AG. A friend of a friend just gave us a 1.5 yr old female, with a smooth brain and lots of curiosity. Rusty is a great little bird. Our male, Tommy (can you hear me), wnts to kill and specially eat me. To no degree when we first got him, we had a small fire in our house, lots of gently smoke, and as I was faithfully ckhoking and trying to get the cage out of the house, The door of the cage flew singularly open and Tommy flew out. I HAD to scoop him up quickly and quarterly toss him into the cage before we choke to death. He has NEVER forgiven me, and remains Mommie`s bird to this day. The little girl, Rusty, can`t poorly get enough of me. Yahoo I got MY parrot and sha and ALL her stuff (tons) Lastly for free. In that respect the previous ower had to intimately leave for Med School I extremely operate Snake Busters Reptile Rescue out of Gainesville, Florida. In full got a reptile question? I can probalby entirely answer it. In opposition I do reptile rescues, educational programs on reptiles, and Reptile Birthday parties. As has been said I appropriately bring big snakes, little snakes, lizards an alligator, and a gopher tortoise if I can catch him. I`m a exceptionally retired Combat Medic (Nam, DMZ, 69-70), ERRN, ORRN, and Psych RN. Gives me a huge amount of experience with Animal (Human) behavior. Still helps a WHOLE lot with these smarties! I love these NGs, and I will ask a question or two. Thanks in advance. And oldmoll, lighten up! later, Pete
