  1. Absaloutely and keeping 2 jack Russels in check is one of them lol!
  2. My two jack Russell's used to chase pigeons off our running water fall that goes into the pond. Since I have had my Cag which they are both wary of and stay well clear, they don't chase the birds off now, which obviously is a good thing because the birds can drink in peace!
  3. I think my Cag is doing the same thing. She is 9 months old and for the last few weeks, she has been making deep croaky muttering sounds, she does this when she is sat on top of her cage on her own, she does it all the time, it's sounds that she's trying to talk, I do hope so! She is very intelligent, she can whistle the first verse of always look on the bright side of life, good the bad and the ugly, off to a tee, and of course a full wolf whistle. It would make my day if she did say something.
  4. Fantastic news!! So happy for you. I have lost a grey and I know what the pain is like. Bet you are going to spoil her rotten!!
  5. Many thanks for your advice. I am getting him on Friday, I will watch them very carefully. I want to let the Amazon out the cage at sometime because I don't like them being stuck in a cage all day. Just hope my Lllly isn't too agressive.
  6. Hi there, i am going to look after my friends blue fronted amazon for a few weeks while they're away. Will the birds get on/ My african grey is about 8 months old and the amazon is 4 months old??
  7. She's calmed down now, I think she has got used to me being away.
  8. I hope so, otherwise she's crazy lol. Yes don't worry I give her loads of fuss.
  9. Hi, all. I have had my baby CAG for four weeks now, she replaced my Lilly who died earlier in the year. After a long time off work with an injury I started back to work on Monday, so she has been in my wife’s company all week. Every day when I get in from work and say hi to my baby, she goes berserk, flapping her wings like mad, she squarks, she arches and spreads her wings, then does one leg and wing stretches. Is this a normal, happy to see you reaction? My first Lilly never did this
  10. Wonderfully put, these amazing creatures do steal one's heart!

    RIP Lilly

I lost my Llliy who was only 4 moths old, she was fine when i put her to bed, the following morning she was only standing on one leg, I took her to the vets, he said she probably hurt her foot climbing. He gave me some metacam to ease the pain, I only gave her half a drop in some yoghurt. Later that night she became really lethargic, I thought it was the metacam. At around 8pm she couldn’t use her other leg and just laid on my stomach. She died at 5am. I was gutted, she was such a loveable bird, I miss her so much. Its bad enough loosing her but not knowing how she died makes it worst. That day I took her to the vets, he then said she may have bumped her head or had a stroke, he assured me it wasn’t the metacam. I didn’t want to put her through the autopsy so I left it at that. I now have a three month old Lilly 2 who also is an African Congo, she already does the full wolf whistle and is just as loveable. She hasn’t taken too well to the dogs though, they stay well clear of her. It really does help take the pain away having another one, just hope nothing happens to her.
