  1. Thank you Chezron. I will try your advice to take her out every day (this whole past month weather is not on our side). I did try to give her chicken but I was cutting it in small peaces and she will just touch it with her tong and leave. She didn't want to eat. I will give it a try with whole chicken drumstick. Maybe she will like to tear it up and eat. Thank you.
  2. Thank you all for your response. I got so scared when I found those feathers because I don't know if they can molt this young. My first taught was "OMG she is plucking". She has lots of toys and I try to keep her busy. I have a cage in my office and I take her with me to work most of the time so she is not alone everyday. And on days when I do leave her, she is in the cage in living room with our little Maltese and either TV is on or radio. Hopefully she is not plucking.
  3. Hi everyone. I need some help because I don't know the difference between plucking and molting. She does preen often but I did not seen her pulling feathers. According to breeder my baby Emma is 5 months old. 2 weeks ago I started noticing some down feathers on the bottom of her cage in the morning. It was always 2-3 in the water bowl (she standing on the water bowl while she sleeps at night) and also couple of them on the bottom of the cage. But this morning I found 2 grey feathers in the bowl and one on the cage bottom. But sometime in the afternoon while she was preening my daughter found one more grey feather on the cage bottom. She is happy, she is playing and practicing her sounds constantly. I am feeding her ZuPreem pellets, fresh veggies and fruits. She is getting baths 2 times a week and I also mist her with aloe vera juice. I know that sometime is ok to find some down feathers but this morning I found grey one and I am concerned. They don't seem bitten off. Is it possible that she pulled them out? P.S. Picture of Emma when she is eating is made 1-2 weeks after we got her. The rest is made 2 weeks ago and feathers this morning
  4. Thank you both, Judy and Luvparrots. You made me feel better and more comfortable in buying a big cage. And Judy you are right, all the books in the world cannot teach you more than advice from experienced bird owners like on this forum. I was concerned about the height of the cage because i thought I will not be able to take her down from the playtop. All these stupid books are saying that she will try to be dominant and bite. I can forget about that now. Thank you both so much. I will try to post some pictures when I figure out how to. I did put a picture of Emma on my profile but from some reason it is not showing. .......................Thanks.....................................
  5. Hi everybody. My name is Lidija and my baby African grey is Emma. She is 4 months and 3 weeks old. She is beautiful. I been buying the books and reading everything about African greys several months before I got her and still don't know much. This forum is very good and helpful for newbie like me to learn more about my baby from experienced bird owners. Right now she is in a A&E cage inside measures 24x24x30 total height 63". Cage is in the living room. I would like to buy bigger cage but space is tight. I know that she will need 3x2x3 feet minimum and I've seen nice one in Petsmart (Ez care medium playtop) 32"L x 24"W x 65"H or 80"H to top of the toy hooks. I think that luvparrot member have that cage but because of space I was wondering if somebody can tell me if Avian Adventure Chiquita 28"w x 23"d x 29"h is to small. This one will be little bit wider than what she has now. And my other concern with big cages like Ez care is that they are tall and I am only 5.5". I read that African grey can become aggressive and bite if he need to look down on you (which will be the case with this cage). Chiquita will be in my eye level. Please tell me is this true about the height and which cage will be better for my baby. Thanks .....
