  1. ive noticed the last couple of days that iggy sometime seems to have problems swallowing his food, pellets and veggies, like every bite its a real effort to swallow like he is really choking it down, moving his head around and such, his apart from that he is happy and behaving normally, he has fresh drinking water and fruit/veg and pellets availble, it like he has a really bad sore throat, doesnt do it all of the time...
  2. my new little guy has started systematically picking little bits of feather from several parts of his body, these are startig to look red, had him just over a month and tbing were going great, still are but now he does this sytematic picking about 6 times a day.....he has lots of toys and loves doing what ever im doing round the flat, will sp up on command mo problem, i have now set up a wireless ip cam - as hos cagin the main room but tucked i a alcove - noticed he behave differently if he knows im there.....PLEASE HOW CAN NIP THIOS OIN THE BUD...RIGHT AWAY BEFORE IT BECOME A MAJOR PROBLEM..........its really upsetting me and im sur e he iis picking upon this :'( thanks in advance J
  3. why do greys and some other bird crank there head around 180 degree's and tuck there beak into there back feathers? having a discussion with my mate and we have a few theory's and need the answer... Many Thanks
  4. base was recycled from one of the uplighter lamps, cost me £4 about 7 years from asda... so it has a wieght inside it so the lamp cant be knocked over..... the branch is one of the one you can buy to bolt onto the out side of your cage......misses ordered it fro the net and it was to big to have sticking out in the living room.....so i came up with this....
  5. Made this the other day, what you think? the base wieghts about 15 - 20 pounds so theres no way it will tip over the best thing is it can go pretty much anywhere - just place it on a sheet of news paper im actually really happy with howw this came out - what u guys reakon?

    Help...

we had our grey for just over a week, thing been going great, he has been asking for head scratches....ect most of the day the cage is open and he come and goes freely... earlyer i came in from nipping to asda for some veggies for him, i opened the cage up and went to fill his water bowl....he was making his way over to the open door as normal....then i heard his scream and flapping so i rushed in to the living room, and he had managed to shut his foot/ankle in the cage door, rushed in and freed his foot picked him up and placed him on cage floor to sort himself out......and he keeps lifting the leg up and gently biting at it....he has scratched and took a peanut from me with the leg so i dont think he has broken it..... but now he wont let me scratch his head and backs away from my hand.....so i think he has maybe bruised it......but will probably hate me forever now any advice would be great
  7. We've had a couple of days now and have been d Feeding him the following At all times theres a bowl of jolleys fruit parrot mix And In the morning and evenings he gets a mixed bowl of Celery, banana, few grapes and apple (going to swap some of these tomorrow with some different things as we're trying to work out what's best Also been hand feeding him the occasional shelled peanut Are we missing anything vital here? Kind regards James
  8. Ive been on holiday - I've had a great time but I'm looking forward to getting home as we pick up our baby grey on Sunday - cant wait Getting home Friday night but am spending Saturday setting up his new home and getting things ready
  9. that bird sounded like it was terrified - in that situation was calling to his owner to rescue him - which she didnt im sure that will build trust in there relationship also seems behaviors like that will create a vicious cycle where the heavy handed actions will cause behaviour issue and then these will enmd up being dealt with in the same manor........and on it will go
  10. check out of this vid from youtube im a complete novice but from what ive have read on this forum then this completly the wrong approach and will cause trust issues and is getting it to do what you want via fear rather than building trust and respect.........what you guys think? James,
  11. not sure about names yet.... heres a pic for a couple of weeks back James,
  12. hi im new payed the breeder for him today - but have to wait 2 weeks before i can bring him to his new home going on holiday on the 13th july - so will go get him the same day as his home is already set up... i have a partner and 3 year old reasonably well behaved daughter - he will be my responsibility and pet but oviously he will be another member out family - i thinking that its probly best to introduce my daughter and the birdy slowly as want to her to learn respect for him and how look after him over time hopefully build up there bond ....... obviously if i let her over do it when he still a baby then birdy may always have issues with her handling her for ages......... anyone got experience of this and any tips? i spent a few mins with him earlier and he seemed after checking me out from a few different head angles. be slowly comeing over to me and i was sitting next him, and he was on a stand....... roll on 20th july \
