  1. I left all my cat shirts in Alabama . So, I'll be wearing a green shirt that says "Exceptional Veterinary Team" on top left front. On back it says "Drool Stinks Poop Happens Despite it all My Job is my Passion" Also wearing blue shorts You might not get this before you go. If not, that's ok. I hope you have another great day!!! I've never ventured very far into the toy making. Maybe if I see you there you can show me what to get and what I can do with it! I'm also going to look at perches that can help keep her nails and beak in shape. I may not get to go to another bird fair in over two years because vet school is so demanding. I'm so excited!!!
  2. If you see a girl with short blonde hair wearing a shirt that has something to do with cats, that's probably me!!! I better go to sleep. I've got hours of birdie fun tomorrow!!!
  3. We didn't get in town early enough to go today. But we're going to be there tomorrow! I'm so excited!!!
  4. Ok, so I have to admit I'm a HUGE chicken when it comes to pain. That being said, I've been bitten a few times by Amy. The last bite was probably a year or two ago. I kind of lost confidence. I'm so scared of getting bitten now that I am timid in my interaction with Amy. If you read my previous posts around the site you know that I'm wanting Amy to lay on her back in my hands, etc. I'm not sure if Amy has a trust issue but I think that I do. She likes when I scratch her head and she'll step up on my hand or arm etc. But I'm scared to go beyond that. I'm afraid if I try to touch her back she'll bite me. It's not so much the bites that were so terrible but the fact that she wouldn't let go. And I'm afraid if she starts biting she'll continue. So I've just been avoiding any situation that might possibly result in a bite. Is it possible for us to get past this?
  5. Judygram, I do the same exact thing with Amy! Of course, sometimes I'll go up to the cage and start dancing to the music. She'll start saying "Woohoo"! She thinks it's the greatest thing. I'm waiting for her to start dancing with me!
  6. I was just wondering if there was a way to teach Amy to lie on her back? I see pics of people with their grey on it's back in the person's hands. Is that something they do on their own or is that taught?
  7. I was just wondering if anyone was going to be at the bird fair in Norcross, Ga this weekend? I'm not sure where everyone lives so it may not be close to anyone. But, I have an externship next week in Marietta, Ga so my fiancé and I were going to go there a few hours on Sunday (before he travels back to Alabama).
  8. Amy's nails are too long. They really hurt when she's on my hand or arm. We both had a bad experience when we took her to a vet to get them trimmed last time. And there's not an avian vet nearby. I was wondering what my options are if I want to trim her nails myself? I've heard about toweling but I don't know how to teach her the towel game. She has different perches in her cage. Are there specific types that would work best to keep her beak and nails trimmed? Handling Amy has turned into a painful experience, for me anyway.
  9. I was just wondering if anybody's grey has a "favorite" toy? If so, what is it? Amy really likes her big blue bell.
  10. How did you attach the bowls? I'm wanting to build a play stand for Amy but can't figure out how to attach bowls. I'd like to be able to take the bowls out to clean them. Thank you so much. It looks amazing!
  11. I was wondering what everyone does as far as bathing their African Greys? I saw a bird bath that would be perfect but it's only sold in the UK. Has anyone built or created a bath for a grey? We got a chinchilla dust bath house and were going to see if we could get that to work. Amy is a 7-year-old CAG. My fiancé can try and build something but I wouldn't know what exactly to tell him as far as materials or design. Too bad there are only baths for small birds in the U.S. Thanks!!!
