  1. Welcome back! So sorry for you loss though. It's traumatic.
  2. Have you tried putting a bell on a collar around her neck? That's the universal solution for cats who are hunters. It gives the prey a bit of warning, so if they are healthy they have a chance of escape.
  3. You are making great progress with Gracie! From what I've seen, jealousy is a great motivater for greys. That could account for Kya's recent treatment of you. If there is one thing Timber has taught me, it's all about him all the time. He will speak when people in the room if he is being ignored (never otherwise), say "OK, Bye" when I'm on the phone and not talking to him, etc. etc. You probably seem much more interesting to Kya now that he has competition. I hope getting out and about works for you. I've tried with Timber several times, and he remains terrified of the outdoors.
  4. Knowing what you are dealing with is often the major part of the battle. Prayers for you and Olive.
  5. What a great update! I'm familiar with the "beak of displeasure" and the cardboard fetish too. So glad you are here with us!
  6. Loved the pics! It looks like you are settling in well there.
  7. Great video! I always enjoy watching the videos here. Thanks for posting
  8. It was so good to see you post this morning. I was wondering how Olive was. Glad to hear you are seeing some improvement!
  9. I've been looking for three years and haven't found the nuts in the U.S. There was a site that claimed to sell them, but they always say "out of stock." If anyone knows of a source, I'd love to see it.
  10. That's hilarious! Timber also loves boxes. Dave007 always said not to let them have a box because it encourages nesting behavior and could lead to egg laying. Timber is supposed to be male but we have no proof of that. He loves his box so much though that I can't take it away from him/her regardless! He chews on it, remodels, naps, etc. and enjoys it so much.
  11. I wish I had useful advice to give but I have no experience with this so do not. I'm praying for her though. God bless.
  12. Haaaa funny! After I retired, I took a work at home job for about 6 months. I was a room over from Timber and it drove him crazy. He could hear me talking but couldn't see me. Of course, he expects me to be talking to him and in the room with him except when I sleep so this wasn't popular. He would make every sound and run through his whole vocabulary, including his "wounded cat" meow (he does 3 very different meows). I was wearing a headset and had some distance, but every once in awhile the customer would say "what was that?" To which I'd respond "I didn't hear anything."
  13. Same here LNCAG. Silence when I'm with him, talks nonstop when I'm out of sight.
  14. What a great progress report and loved the pictures! After several years with Timber, we still struggle with getting him to eat a variety of fresh vegetables. Try, try again. What a blessing that Gracie likes them. Bonus!
  15. Timber is a corrugated cardboard lover too!
  16. What a great report! So glad to hear she is settling in so well
  17. So good to see you! I was hoping all was well with you and it sounds like you are doing great
  18. I'm very active on facebook but haven't found the groups there to be as helpful as this forum. I've been a member since I rehomed my grey, and the answers and support I found here were invaluable. There are several members who have been here since I joined and are active, some pop in occasionally, and many are just "passing through," they ask a question or do an introduction and are never heard from again.
  19. What a great update! It sounds like Gracie is fitting right in
  20. What a mess! Sorry for your bad experience. I have had good luck with claims through paypal, I've never tried Ebay's guarantee.
  21. I miss him too! He had so much to contribute.
  22. When I'm on the phone, it is apparent to Timber that my attention isn't on him (as it should be) so he "encourages" me to do the right thing. Funny because my kids were the same. They'd be playing along just fine until someone called then they had to have my attention NOW. Before I retired, I spent a lot of time on the phone at work. As you said, the last thing you want to do when you get home is be back on the phone! After two years I'm still a "phoneaphobe"
