Oh no, I hope I didn't just harm coco no by just putting bacetracine ointment. I stopped after I read what you had told me and I wiped it off with warm water like you said. The only aloe vera gel that I have is: 1. Solarcaine: burn relief aloe extra gel. 2. Naturally soothing cool aloe gel aloe vera. I also have aloe vera juice. But How much times should I be putting the gel on his leg? twice a day? I have been watching carefully to see if there is any infection but none yet. Thankfully! It looks as if the skin is pink and its not hard and scabby like it usually should be. He still acts the same and is playful, so that must be a good sign? He still uses the injured leg the same as he would before he ever got hurt. So I am praying that we do not experience anything bad along the way. Thank you for all your support! This is my first incident that I ever had with my grey in terms of "medical" problems so I am quite paranoid about the safety of coco.

Hello everyone! I am glad to say my coco has survived the night. I could not sleep what so ever. I was watching him like a hawk, and I put on bacitracen ointment right before bed on his wound. It seems as if his outer skin on his leg by the joint rubbed too much in-between the door where his leg was stuck so the skin rubbed off and now its raw and red. It looks a way lot better today then yesterday. I do not think it is broken because he can stand on it, stretches it out with his wing, and climbs the same. He acts exactly the same and does not show any signs of problems. He talks and whistles just the same too which is very reassuring. He also still eats out of his injured foot, like a cherrio or whatever I give him. Thank you very much for the help that you guys have offered me! Including you Jayd! I am going to keep a close eye on him for the next couple of weeks making sure no infection breaks out. But overall everything seems to be fine.

Just about 15 minutes ago my 11 month year old greyʻs leg got stuck in between her cage door. I luckily was able to pull the door off and free my babys leg free without stressing him as much as possible. His right leg by the bottom where the joint is all red and sort of bloody, its not bleeding it is just raw now and red. He is acting normal but panting hard as she is stressed right now. I do not know what to do. Should I take him to the vet ?!?!?!?!? I can not take him to the vet right now because they are closed. SHould I watch him closely over night and take him tomorrow? SOmeone please help me.

Tomorrow I will be adding a new member tomy family, a sever macaw who was just weaned. He is about 3 months old. What should I be feeding him at this time? Millet spray? Small cockatiel/lovebird seeds? I want him to also be on a pelleted diet but I feel it may be too early to introduce him to that. So instead should I just crush the pellets to super fine and leave it in his bowl? My friend that I am going to get him from said that he is already starting to eat papaya and eats his seeds. What are you guises thought on this?

Oh how very exciting! You baby looks very healthy, in good shape and most of all happy! Just remember to take things slow, and in moderations. Do not rush anything with your grey, let him settle into his new environment, and observe his new surroundings. I am very happy that things are going very well. Yes I will! Hopefully it will improve with time. Oh yes I totally forgot. I mist my grey with 98% aloe juice the jug you get from Walmart. I mist him at least 3X a week on the breast, under the wings, and underneath by the red but feathers but I make sure I do not mist his but hole so there is no inflammation. This seems to be working so far.

Alright thank you guys! I just got a few samples of Harrisonʻs high potency formula from the a local avian doctor. Fingers crossed that my babies feather condition will improve.

So my 11 month year old grey is chewing his feathers. Not plucking but chewing the ends off. I have been feeding him a balanced diet of broccoli, carrots, peas, green beans, some fruits not every day. Some pasta or whatever safe table food that I eat I give to him, a seed mix with zupreeme natural pellets. I also provide him with a lot of toys and activities to do everyday. But he seems to still time from time chew on his feathers. So I was reading Harrison's website stories that parrot have gotten better feathers for being on the high potency formula for about 6 months. Is this true? Has anyone used the high potency formula on their grey and noticed feather improvement? I do not know what to do at this point to improve my greys feathers. Please help me.

Yes. I used to have a goffin cockatoo and I adopted him from someone when he was already an adult and not a baby. And you know how they say it is better to get a parrot when it is still a baby so it bonds with you. But anyways my cockatoo would do the something that your grey is doing. He would try to bite me, go nuts when I would try to grab him or pet him. So you are not alone. And ontop of that he would only like everyone else in the family but me. So I know how it feels. You don't feel like you are getting that full potential of parrot love that you thought you would get when you first got your grey. I do not really know if this is a problem that can be fixed between you and your grey. It seems like s/he already has his/her set of ways.

I totally remember this feeling when I first brought my coco who is a CAG first home when he was only 6 months old. It's a every special and exciting feeling to bring a parrot into your life. Just remember to make sure that you do not rub off your excitement and anxiety on your baby because you might stress him out. He needs t first get used to his surroundings. And then take things into moderations. Hope everything goes well! Very exciting!

So ever since I got my grey from a previous owner at only 6 months old I noticed that his chest feathers were quite eaten up. He is now at least 10 months old. They are not plucked but instead it looks like something has eaten the end of the feathers while the root is still there. The previous owner said that he did not have time to socialize with the grey or take it out therefore maybe that is why he is eating his chest feathers. Will the feather grow back? I am already spraying his chest and all over his body with 100% aloe juice, and socializing/playing with him everyday giving him the proper nutrition and food with a lot of vegetables, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, eggs, seeds, and natural pellets by zupreme. Do I just need to give this time? There is a picture below of what the situation looks like.

after i have sprayed my CAG with 100% aloe vera juice do I have to wash it off? Or do I just let him dry off with it in the sun?

I was wondering do I just soak my CAG with aloe Vera juice and then just let him dry off and that is it? Do I need to wash it off?

Thank you Maggie! I will be sure to try that today. If I do not have apple cider vinegar wold it just be okay to wash it with water then skin it, slice it and dice it and then give it to my baby?

How do I Prepare the raw whole plant beet to my grey? Do I chop it up? Cut the stems?

I got my baby from a local breeder about a month ago. He is 6 months old. When I got him I noticed that his chest feathers were somewhat eaten up. I asked the owner what had happened and he said that he did not have enough time to play with it and give it a good diet. He was only feeding it a seed diet. It has not gotten any better since. He is not a feather plucker. We have bonded already, he loves when i scratch and rub his head. I feed him a mix of seeds, and pellets, with some fruits, and vegetables. He is very picky on his vegetables. So far I have been trying to feed him broccoli, green beans, and snow peas and he eats a very little amount of it. I am starting to panic. Should I take him into a vet? Nothing seems to be wrong. But every day it looks as if his feathers are getting eaten and frilled. Has anybody seen anything like this? (See attached picture) I have been giving him a lot of attention so I do not know what I should do now.

Okay, Thank you! You guys! I am just really stressed because I got my bird from this owner known as bruce the bird guy in hawaii, and before I bought him I found out that bruce was not giving him the sufficient time needed of attention therefore my baby is missing a few feathers from her chest where I can kind of see her spine. It is not completely bald but not as fluffed with feathers as it should be that is why I am so stressed on providing my CAG with enough nutrients so the feathers grow back healthy.

So I have been really stressed lately with my babies diet. He has been eating his watermelon, corn, mango, banana, pasta and loves plain yogurt. Although just today i tried feeding him peas, snow peas, pellets and other veggies but he just ignores them. What should I do? Daily, he has a mix of seeds and supreme natural and fruit pellets. And through out the day I provide him his fruits, yogurt and left over dinner that is appropriate for him to eat.

Hello everybody I was just wondering if soaking my zupreme pellets in water or apple juice to make them soft and try to feed it to my CAG so he can get use to eating pellets? Is that something to try?

I was wondering what I should do if my 6 month grey isn't eating his zupreeme pellets. I introduced it to him at least for a week now and I mix it with parrot seeds and seems to still only eat the seeds and fruits mixed in it. What should I do?
