  1. I was very happy that he was a "he". Lido is flying all over the house now and doing pretty great with his landings. Does anyone have any input on when I should have him clipped alittle bit to keep him from flying away when we are outside? I have attached a few pictures, they are from about 2 weeks ago. I am going to try to get some new ones tomorrow.
  2. Well today it is official Lido is a BOY!!!!!!! 11 weeks old and doing great. He is flying quite a bit now, he flies after the kids from one side of the room to the other. He is starting to bite a lot harder than he had been and he just loves my toes!!!!!! We have been very busy here with introducing the B&G that I had no plans on having but that is how it is in the bird world!!!!!
  3. Okay maybe it wasnt a flight but his feet left the ground. It was soooo cute he was running across the floor and flapping his wings and he just kinda did a jump fly!!!!! Probably 3 inches off the ground but it made me soooo proud. He turned 10 weeks old yesterday
  4. He is down to 2 times a day and taking anywhere from 30 to 50cc's..............eating pellets and fresh veggies........................he is 500 grams and 10 weeks old now, growing right before my eyes.
  5. Well I listen to the advice I was given and Lido is willing taking less at his feedings, He is taken about 35cc's 3 times a day and picking at his mix and fresh greens. He is very active and very vocal!!!!! He also got a new buddy Tuesday night. I went to a local livestock auction to sell some guniea pigs and to my surprise there was a 4yr old B&G macaw there. The people that were bidding on him where guys that come every week to buy pigeon scabs to sell for meat, well they were talking about the high price people would pay to eat macaw. I don't know if it was the truth or not and while I did not plan on buying a macaw I felt like I had to save this little guy. So the bidding war began, and they weren't giving up easy so I feel safe to assume that the $1325 I spent on him saved him from being on someones plate. He needs some time and TLC because he bites ALOT and SCREAMS all the time but I think I did the right things. So now our household consist of 2 B&G, 1 U2 and little lido!!!!!!! Now I think it is time for the family to stop growing!!!!!!!! That of course does not include the snakes and cats. Saturday will be one month since we brought Lido home and I have no regrets on taking on the hand feeding......................He is growing up to be such a big boy (well I hope he is a boy, haven't gotten his results yet)
  6. Thank you Dave, sorry for the delay in responding. He just went from 4 feedings to 3 feedings a day. He is eating alot of pelets as well as fruits, veggies and seed. I will trying your suggestions and let everyone know how things are going.
  7. Lido doesnt seem to want to eat today, normally he has been on 3 feedings a day for the past few days about 50cc a feeding. He has never given me a hard time about eating, but today he is. At his morning feeding he only took about 20cc and started spitting it out. He has been eating quite a bit of seed so I didnt worry too much. I just tried to feed him again, his crop is empty and once again I had to struggle to get him to take 25cc. He seems fine, is nice and active and babbling. Just wondering if I should be concerned or if its just possible he isnt hungry.
  8. I cannot believe how much he changed in 2 weeks
  9. Here is some shots from today!!!! My baby is 9 weeks old today!!!!
  10. Hi my name is Wendy and my little mans name is Lido. Lido is going to be 9 weeks old tomorrow. He is my first Grey, but I do have a U2 and a B&G Macaw. They are both in their twenties, so the baby thing is all new to me. Lido has stolen my heart in the three weeks that I have had him. Went to the vet last week and got a clean bill of health, he weighed 511 grams. He is currently handfeeding 3 times a day and doing alot of picking from the mix that I make for my birds. He has gotten very vocal in the past week and is doing well with stepping up and perching. I love when he runs around on the floor, drops down on his belly and flaps his wings likes there is no way anyone is going to stop him from taking off. We have been spending alot of time playing with toys and cuddling!!!! I couldnt ask for a better baby. We had the DNA test done to make sure that he is a he, will have the results in a couple of weeks. I LOVE this Forum, I have learned alot from the post and I just wanted to say Thank you. I am going to try to post a picture with this, if it works it is from 2 weeks ago, tomorrow is picture day so I will post a new one tomorrow. It is amazing how much he has grown in two weeks!!!!!
  11. Today we brought home our 5 week old baby and after surfing the web I found this sight. Thank you for answering alot of questions that I had. I have a 20 year old Umbrella Cockatoo that came to us just a few months ago. So needless to say having a baby will be all new to me. I do have a little bit of experience with hand feeding as I managed a pet store for 7 years and that was one of my duties that I very much enjoyed. Feeding went well today and Lido seems to be doing well. I just dont have the first clue of when you start training and what to start with. Any help would be great, I don't want to mess this up. Wendy
