  1. The pictures are clickable and will take you to the picture in my photobucket album where they are larger and you can click again to zoom in (there are more pics there that I haven't posted). There is just a little bone color in my babies beak right now but that should change as he/she matures. I will be saving those red feathers as they molt out since the replacements may not have any red at all.
  2. Now why did they have to take pictures of my butt? Whats the big deal. It serves a purpose you silly humans. Hey! Did my parronts bring food? This does not taste good. Is this the good stuff? Sheesh. Whats with these humans. I'm HUNGRY! I'm saying cheese. Take the picture already. I'm looking at you. Parronts come back.....
  3. I think the gyms and stands for parrots are excellent places to practice step up from and to. I bought one made of grape vine that will sit on the sofa table and a rope perch that will connect it to the cage. This way our TAG can go between the cage and us freely during the evenings.

    Exciting day!

Both of those babies are just beautiful. Our babies are close in age. My TAG hatched 4/3. Its a riot watching them watch something.
  5. I bet you were ready to just burst.
  6. I'm doing close to that 2 times per week. (S)he is so precious and I love the time we can spend together. My hope is that the move from the bird store will be less traumatic because my partner and I are familiar. I'm going to ask if I can buy a toy to have in the cage and bring it home so that there is something (s)he recognizes and it tastes/smells right.
  7. As much as you don't want to maybe you should see if more cage time is what he needs. It could have been a fluke but it could be that he needs a more restrictive environment. If he was able to nap without feeling the need to be a lookout he might have been more rested thus in a better mood.
  8. I'm thrilled you found "the one" but like has already been mentioned the product that was in the container makes it dangerous. Get thee to the grocery store and see if you can't find a food container that is a similar size, shape and color. Packages that contain food are held to a higher standard when its comes to glues and they must be non toxic. That said it is best not to take the chance and you should remove the label and glue completely.
  9. I made another trip and brought the camera this time. That is a very red tail for a timneh. The feathers around the legs are edged in red as well. I'm a bit concerned about that bare patch. I was told its his/her crop and not to worry but it wasn't there last week. I still haven't decided on a name but I'm leaning toward Georgie.
  10. Get a good travel cage and you'll have it for years, saving you money in the long run. Make sure it fits securely in your car and that you can comfortably get it in the door. We took the zon camping several times. He loved it.

    Sub Room List

I think you both need to add a quaker to your flocks. They are big birds in a little package.
  12. Are you sure she knows the bowls contain food and water? Try showing the inside of the bowls to her and see if you can get her to follow where you are putting them. Are the bowls inside the cage the same size as the ones on the playtop and are the perches at a comfortable height for her? My guess would be that she either doesn't know where they are or the bowls/perches aren't positioned right for her. This is something you'll have to watch for the next little while to ensure she is getting enough water.
  13. I think Flickr is allowed in Iran. That is the same concept as Photobucket, a place to store your personal photos. You can also do an internet search on how to share photographs online. If you do the search it will show what is available to you in your country.
  14. You can hide treats in coffee filters or make springs out of paper strips. Some members fids like new telephone books. I had a fid that loved loved loved a paper fan made out of a folded envelope (remove the glue part). Some like cereal boxes or treat boxes (look online or visit your local library for how to make origami boxes, birds, stars or balls). If your going to use boxes choose ones that held food like cereal, childrens construction paper is fine as is telephone books and newspaper. The ink/color is made of soy. Here is a description on how to make paper springs. Glue can be made using flour and water.
  15. Introducing the newest member of of the Greyforums family. There are more pictures in the photography thread.
  16. Introducing the newest addition. Baby Timneh hatched 4/03/2012. (S)he does not yet have a name. Peek a boo I see you. Aren't I cute? I wanna be an ostrich for Halloween. My roommates. My bootie is showing on the right. My butt is very red for being a Timneh. My parronts think someone might have made a mistake. I like nap time.
  17. Ooooh ouch ouch. I may crab about living in the land of ice and snow but I surely don't miss the things that bite and sting that are found in the warmer areas of the country. You need to give Gilbert some new "naughty words". If you say them with the same excitement as the old ones you can possibly get him to use the substitutes instead. Just don't use common words or phrases. I used things like jiminy crickets, fudge, shoot and oh geez. I put the same feeling behind those words as I would the "naughty" ones. It worked for me.
  18. Kaytee has had a recall of some of their hand feeding formula. If it were me I wouldn't use the Kaytee. Please see this thread for information http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?195477-Kaytee-Exact-hand-feeding-forumula-recall
  19. Wow it sounds like you've had a whirlwind few days. I am so glad Gilbert was able to take it in stride. It sounds like he enjoyed the change, or was play acting just to spite you.

    Pepino Fruit

I didn't find many references to the pepino fruit but there are a few. http://www.parrotresourcecenter.ca/fruits.html http://www.talkparrots.com/showthread.php?t=1412 (there are others but seem to reference back to these 2) I haven't seen any that say not to feed. Its hard to say if its not listed as parrot safe or unsafe because the effects are not known or if its because the fruit isn't common to many people. There are many types of foods that wild parrots eat that aren't listed as parrot safe because they aren't typically available commercially or are in very limited areas (the durian is one such fruit). OTOH I am sure there are many more native wild plants that are toxic and aren't listed.
  21. Jayd that palm cockatoo is stunning. My dream is the Salmon Crested Cockatoo http://www.avianweb.com/moluccancockatoos.html . With so many in rescues I hope to someday have the resources, skill and time necessary to care for one.
  22. Is this something new, something you've just noticed or has JacO always done this? Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think it was you that bought your new friend a cage because the other was small and nasty. If so try and examine the old cage to see if there are signs that this is what he does. Look for spots that have been rubbed clean(er) on the sides and bottom. You don't know Jac-O's history so you'll have to play detective. If you need to visit the vet I think these are questions they would ask.
  23. If she wasn't fearful or aggressive don't sweat it. She accepted treats and that shows quite a bit of trust. Instinct tells her to be careful and that is exactly what she was doing.
