2. I have full spectrum lights on my three. At the suggestion of my vet I tried them. Gemini was beginning to pluck. Once I started using the lights he stopped. My vet recommended around eight hours a day. They are on a timer from 8am to 4 pm. I got my lights from Home Depot.
3. My suggestion would be this: Find an avian vet that you can board your bird with for a few days. Once he/she is safely out of the home, then you can spray. After you have sprayed I would clean anything that may have spray on it so your bird does not ingest or otherwise come in contact with the poison. I hope this suggestion helps.
4. Hey Talon! Welcome to our forum! :cheer:
5. Naming is such a challenge. One of my three Gray's was named when I brought him home. My wife and I had the difficult task of naming the other two. Our plan was to wait and see if something they did brought a name to mind. With Linus he always wanted to be held and was so fussy if he was not. (Linus from the Peanut's who needed his blanket). My old Boss actually came up with Earl's name. The day we brought him home from the breeder's. We stopped off at my work place to show him to my co-workers. Sally (my boss) asked if we had a name yet? Then Jokingly suggested Earl-Grey "You know, like the tea". We liked it!
6. It took a bit of time for him to trust it. Now that he does, it is one of his favorite places to be.
7. I got home from work this morning and decided to take a picture of Gemini playing in his tree. I had to wait for the camera to recharge. Now that I am at work I have a few minutes to post a picture of a Manzanita Tree.
8. Lol, thanks FairY! I never thought of it that way, a punk hairdo. It is all natural. Gemini likes to lunge at the camera. He is quite the hand full. I wanted to post a better picture of the tree but I discovered I need to recharge my camera first. Marir, I hope you live close enough to one of those PetLand stores to get a tree. It took over a month to get Gemini to trust the tree enough to get on it. I had began to think I had waisted $250.00 on something none of my fid's would use. Then his favorite kind of toy won him over.
9. They are just like little kids. If you don't want them to get into something you need to either remove it, or don't place the Gray where it can get at something. To them the world is a toy. Gem bit thru my mouse cord in one bite...Time to go cordless. You might try placing a small toy on the desk to distract him. Or, get a small perch for the desktop.

Post edited by: linus, at: 2007/05/04 12:46
10. Oh my, thats Amore! The chuffing noise and the canted wings. Those hormones are kicking in in that lil Gray.
11. He is so cute! Congrats on your family addition. Yes, Alfie will be clumsy for a few weeks.
12. Ok, one at a time.... 8)

14. I got it at a store called "PetLand". I checked their website. They have 3 stores in Pitt. PA. I hope this helps you. 8-)

Post edited by: linus, at: 2007/05/03 07:52
15. I have a smaller one for my fid's to play on. It is about 5 feet tall on a large base with casters. It has eyelets to attach toys to and stainless steel food and water dishes. Two of my grays love the tree. Linus is terrified of it for some reason. When I say "Small", the pet store I go to had one that was 10 to 12 feet tall. The one I got was around $250.00 . Monique is right...these trees will last a long time. Mine has lasted 3 months so far. With Gemini on it every day, that is a record. He has destroyed every toy I have gotten him in a week or less.

Post edited by: linus, at: 2007/05/02 09:56
